All those years of me paying the AMT etc......jeezus paying 13% would have been very sweet.

    This just breaks my balls.....

No wonder he doesn't want to release his returns.

Since almost half the people in this country don't pay ANY income tax, and some get back more than they pay, why is it you rant about someone who pays millions in taxes?
The Democrats has a large majority in the House and a filibuster proof Senate long enough to pass Obama care and any other TAX BILL that they wanted to. Romney paid what they chose to let the tax rate be. Tough ****. Now two years later the tax rate that they let stand when they could have changed it, is somehow unfair. Please spare me that Liberal ********!!!!

I don't question his success.....I just question why my net tax rate would be an alternative minimum rate no matter my deductions and that net rate would ultimately be 70-80% higher than his net rate.

He makes millions and yet I have paid out the ass while he enjoys deductions I obviously can't take advantage of.

The average guy gets screwed while the millionaire prospers and gets a break.....and yet they want more breaks??

No siree......his release of his tax rate has done nothing for me......conversely I question him even more.

Dave, Let's take some random numbers here:

Let's say that Skippy Piss Ant works at McDonalds making $5000 per year.

Let's say you make $100,000 per year (have no idea if that is high or low)

Let's say Romney makes $10,000,000 per year.

Even if you are in the 30% tax rate and Romney is in 13%, how much do each of you contribute to the running of this country?

Skippy gets back every cent payed in for taxes.
    You pay $30,000
    Romney pays $130,000

How is that fair. Romney worked to get where he is and he is paying Skippy's part in full. He is already paying a portion of your part as well. You want him to pay more because he is successful?

Let's see how that would work elsewhere:

You pull up to the toll road there in Florida. The person if front of you goes through for free. You are stopped and told you owe $70 to use that road today. WHY??? Because the people that make less money are being given a free ride and you now have to pay for them too.

Taxing the successful at a higher rate just promotes the attitude: I don't have to work hard... the government will make the rich pay for me.

Romney takes money he has and INVESTS it. It may be a successful investment or it may lose money. However his investment adds to our economy. If he successfully makes money on his investment he is taxed at capital gains rate NOT EARNED INCOME rate. For decades and decades lawmakers in this country have decided that the country gains when individuals with money invest in our economy. What do you think that the tax rates of weathly people like Kerry and Kennedy were? They made money off family INVESTMENTS.
Now all of a sudden the Democrats, having shown for nearly 4 years that they haven't a f'n clue as to how to fix the economy, they've pulled out this tax rate ruse. They know that it will play to the simple minded. Apparently it does.
Take a look at this article.
    http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics/2012/01/john-kerry-actually-had-lower-tax-rate-romney/47802/
Kerry actually had a lower tax rate than Romney. Did you see that anywhere in the media? I guarantee you that millions of folks who voted gleefully for Kerry, now have resentment of Romney. If it wasn't such a serious matter it would be laughable.

Gip, you're talking to a brick wall. Dave doesn't care about how "rich" people supply the investment capital that creates jobs. He just wants his share of the pie, which includes part of Romney's "unjustifiably large" share.

Something else the media is avoiding....Romney's charitable contributions, which I've read are quite substantial. I think, but am not certain, that Romney said something like, without his charitable contributions, his tax rate would be over 20%.

By the way, I'm waiting for Dave to address Tom's example.

Tom I make less than half of what I once did in Detroit.

But when I did earn that kind of living it wasn't enough that a 24% net tax payment wasn't a serious bite.

If Romney makes $10,000,000 is 13% a serious bite? Is he left wondering where it all went? I hardly think so.

It's the net pain to the household budget that's relevant more so than the amount.

Charitable deductions are a fact of life. The man donates to the poor and to his church and that lowers his tax rates. Deal with it. You want to eliminate the charitable deduction then good luck with that fight. You want to raise capital gains taxes then fine, fight that battle even though most economists feel that would hurt the economy and put MORE folks out of work. Or just hate on the guy because he pays all the tax he owes. That's easier

Politics aside, let's go to a flat tax where everyone pays their fair share and I mean from the top to bottom with no exceptions..

I think there is no apples/apples comparing Romney or any other rich person to Dave or any of us. Remember Romney hasn't had a job in 6 years, he obviously has a large and diverse portfolio that is not treated the same as ordinary income. I'm not sure I understand what carried interest is but somebody speculated that his income might contain a tremendous amount of it.

I do think our tax system needs reform as it's way to complicated. But like everybody other than Dave I don't think the reform is to make the people who pay most of the taxes in this country pay more.

I agree with Ralph. You should be able to calculate your taxes in your head and pay them monthly like a mortgage. Increases cash flow for the government and takes the stress out of April.

    A. I don't disagree (about the flat tax).

    B. It'll never happen.

More reasons for Dave to vote for Obama once again:

    Judge for yourselves:

Unemployment is over 8% for 42 straight months… But more importantly, the REAL unemployment rate (including the under-employed and those who have given up looking)…is in the range of 15% to 20%…in the range of the worst years of the Great Depression.

The Labor Force Participation Rate among men is the lowest since 1948.
Last month U.S. manufacturing activity plummeted to the lowest level in 3 years.

The housing collapse is now deeper than at the peak of the Great Depression.

46 million Americans are now on food stamps, record numbers on welfare.
Nearly 11 million Americans now on disability is larger than the population of New York City, as well as the population of a majority of the 50 states.
Over 100 million Americans get entitlement checks. (Almost 1 out of every 3 Americans.)

The net worth for American families is down a whopping 40%.

New business startups are at the lowest level in 30 years.

The U.S. credit rating has been downgraded for first time in history.

And now, with the reality of Obamacare upon us, a new poll shows 83% of all doctors are thinking of retiring, at the same time we are adding 30 million new patients. Get ready for much poorer quality of care, poor service, nightmarish waits for treatment, and a system destined for bankruptcy. But who’s surprised? The architect is the same government that runs Amtrak and the U.S. Postal Service.
