I've seen another photo of our Miami uniforms. It is much more golden and doesn't look like the skunkbear unis. http://notredamegoirish.blogspot.com/2012/08/notre-dames-shamrock-series-uniform.html This is our fourth game in the Shamrock Series game. They tweek the uniforms every year. It's become it's own tradition. Those that can't take it just don't care much for tradition I guess.
They are really not that bad, nothing will ever erase the uniforms Maryland wore last season. Looking forward to watching the Irish play this season, they should surprise the "so called" experts. I'm hoping they are so impressed with their new Miami duds they forget to bring their A-game that night...
Hell, they could wear the overalls from the Carwash movie for all I care...just as long as they.........(you know the deal) So how ya been? Haven't heard from ya since the Cards won the WS....
The kicker for me with the Irish is.. I agree with all of you guys. At the same time, we had Michigan beaten so many times but let them back in. The FSU game was between two very similar, talented teams that played like boneheads. We were the bigger boneheads. We had so many stupid turnovers and how in the F&%* can't you catch a punt while falling forward 3-5 yards? There's just so many silly mistakes and things we made that are easily correctable. That's my issue. I never saw any inclination that we were getting better. We may be getting more talented, but I saw no evidence that we were getting better. This gets back to Kelly's absolute void of in-game coaching ability. Things are great when things go by the script, but the moment things get off track, that's when the questions pile up. I hope they all get it together this year. If we do, we're going to be awfully hard to beat. Before we go sticking Oklahoma up on a wall and bending a knee, let's not forget that OU has a recent history of losing to teams they should not lose to at all. Stanford is a lot better than you guys are giving them credit for, but we'll see how that plays out. USC is incredibly loaded. That's a team that had exactly one hole to fill and thanks to PedoU, they filled that spot quite nicely. This SHOULD be a 10+win team. They could be a 6 win team. We'll see how it shakes out. I think you guys are spot on about the mobile QB angle. The first team to drop 8 into coverage against us will be the first team to concede a first down on that play.. Be it Golsen or Hendrix, their arms should back the safeties off the line of scrimmage. The mobility factor should keep them from dropping 7 or 8.. That leaves our skill guys in some one on one matchups. I really like Atkinson Inc in a one on one against anyone in American (including the Tide).. Let's see if we can make it stick. I hope so.
I agree with Corey. Golson could be the difference maker. If he lives up to anywhere near the hype this offense will be hard to stop. The ability to run opens the entire field up. I'll never forget sitting in FedEx field last year and watching Maryland, when Rees was in the shotgun, overloading the Floyd side of the field and leaving the other side completely unprotected. Those days are over. But I temper my enthusiasm for two reasons. Golson last threw a pass in anger at Myrtle Beach HS. And Kelly is calling the plays. The first hurdle will take care of itself. The second? I'll have to see to believe.
As an outsider looking in the most difficult item has always been your schedule of Titans you play every year with a fan base that expects perfection. The main difference is the fact that you play as difficult a schedule on a yearly basis as the SEC but actually travel outside the state lines (With exception to Tennessee and LSU who travel) to do this with no Buffalo state college games stuck in between. Hanging tough my friend, just staying busy and waiting for football season...

Lo Wood, serious injury, gone for the year. Achilles. Cooks and Diaco had said that Lo had made tremendous progress since last year.
Before the fall camp, there was much hope that somebody, anybody would beat out Lo Wood. Most remembered that TD that he gave up in the USC game, he looked so horrible on that play. The guys who are going to replace him have more speed and athleticism. But they've never played.
Kelly said in his press conference today that he loved Ireland just didn't really like playing football games and flying 6 hours to get there...prefers to play at home. Bet Jack Swarbrick was excited about that comment. Personally I'm not for doing things like playing in Ireland, but I can see how the team/players would like it and given the number of ND fans who will be traveling their, the fans/alumni love the idea. I just hope the reported Stanford/Notre Dame game in China doesn't come about.
Not so fast, Terry. Think of the recruiting tool a game in China could be. We could attract future students for ND's olympic sports, like diving, table tennis, gymnastics, and women's wrestling.
Other than the game is on early on Sat. morning, what's not to like about playing in Ireland? Hell Rockne and Leahy used to take their teams on train rides to places like NYC. I can't believe the ND fans who whine about playing a game in Dublin. If the China game were that last game of the season, it certainly wouldn't interfere with the schedule. I assume that they'll be back in plenty of time for a bowl game. I can't believe that traveling like that doesn't impress some top recruits.
I think winning impresses recruits, all that other stuff like special uniforms, playing a game in Ireland, trip to China probably just cherry on top.
