http://cfn.scout.com/2/1209532.html The Swamp checks in at #3......primarily because the Gator's 122-18 .871 winning percentage in the SWamp since 1990 is the best in college football. LSU makes it as #1.....a ranking hard to deny lately. I have to agree with much of the analysis....such as the notation that while large and supportive the crowds at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor make a lot of noise that gets lost up in the stadium's atmosphere due to the open air design.
Is it the stadium or the teams that play there? No surprise that the teams in that top 20 are almost always very good teams. I mean there was a time that stadiums like Neyland and Notre Dame Stadium would have been in the top 10 but both teams have fallen on hard times. Neyland I'm sure still sells out, they still play Rocky Top till your ears go deaf , but not a top 20 toughest stadium because the team hasn't been good recently. Same for the Irish.
Agreed on Neyland. I think it must be a combination of teams plus the venue Terry that determine the rankings in this list.
