Things really heating up for Paterno and the Penn State Administration. It's pretty clear that they covered things up. More damning things coming out every day.

To me and a lot of people it's pretty clear that Joe was only interested in covering things up to protect his legacy and the football program. If he wasn't he'd have called the Police when McQueary came over and not his boss. Also it is becoming more clear that he knew about Sandusky's proclivities back when Sandusky suddenly and surprisingly retired.

I'm sure they won't take down Joe's statue outside the stadium, but it should.

Link is to a pretty good article on Joe.

I just wonder how much of Sandusky's character was general knowledge in the college football community. A friend who is a big Mich. St. fan told me that Sandusky was seriously considered as a HC after he left Penn. St. Nothing became of it. Now maybe it was because of his charitable foundation and "connections" with the community that led Sandusky to indicate that he wouldn't consider leaving. And maybe when contacted by schools, Paterno told them that they'd be better off looking elsewhere.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sandusky isn't the only one from PSU going behind bars. Putting the good name of the school ahead of the lives of all those kids is awful.

It appears that several PSU Admin perjured themselves before the grand jury...so something will come of that. Is it always jail time or sometimes just a fine?

    Another more scathing article.

You can take all the scandals of all the big football schools and roll them into one package and they pale in comparison to this.

If there was an institutional cover up as it is beginning to appear there was, then PSU football should get the death penalty because this would represent the ultimate in "win at all cost " malfeasance.

    It's jail time......this is inexcusable.

And it's time for the Joe Pa legacy to be completely dismantled.

PSU should drop football. I wonder how much the late Tod Jeffers knew about this?

I am not jumping on the bandwagon to blame Paterno, until I see some more concrete evidence.

I do feel that is is quite obvious now about the coverup by the university. I am just not sure to what extent Joe was involved. Time will tell.

I wouldn't compare any of your examples Gipper to this Penn St criminal scandal.

I have three sons myself and it's a disturbing story to say the least and it turns your stomach to think anyone in the Penn St. admin. or Joe Pa himself could have prevented further predation on young boys by Sandusky.

I have a feeling we're going be hearing about the untimely death of Sandusky in the Pa. State Pen over the next couple of years......and it will be justice served.

The claim was Clinton lied to protect his family. The Penn St. administrators lied to protect their institution. Same to me.

Clinton lied about a hummer to try to save face. PSU lied about young boys being raped repeatedly over a long, long time.

I don't see any correlation there.

Clinton lied to avoid being held liable in a sexual harassment suit. What kind of excuse is it that "I committed perjury to avoid being embarassed?"

Hopefully, he packed some asbestos-lines pajamas before he moved to his new residence.

The e-mails are damning and contradict his grand jury testimony that he relayed the conversation he had with McQueary at his home to university officials and did nothing thereafter since the administration possessed greater expertise than he did as to how to deal with the situation. Instead, it appears that school officials were inclined to contact the police but decided not to after discussing the matter in greater detail with Paterno and decided instead to address the situation by talking to Sandusky privately and suggesting to him that he seek psychiatric help.

Mind numbingly depressing since "Call the Cops!", I think, would have been the first thought that would run across anyone's brain after receiving information from a credible eye witness about the sexual abuse of a child. This story is playing out much like how the Catholic Church initially handled the problem of pedophile priests by trying to confine the scandal from becoming public knowledge. The end result was bankrupt parishes across the county, prison terms, and church members leaving the church in droves in disgust over the church’s actions. My guess is that when Penn State scandal reaches the end point, the end result will be a much poorer university, university officials in prison, and a markedly reduced fan base.

Also, totally agree Gipper’s point that Sandusky’s sexual attraction to boys was probably a subject that was not a secret in State College at the time he left coaching and that main objective of those in the know was preservation of the university’s reputation and bank account.

Hey Boda, what do the folks in Wisconsin think of LaRssa's snub of Greinke?

(Apologies for the temporary topic hijack, but we don't have the pleasure of Boda's company often enough)

That's the first I heard of Clinton being subject to a sexual harassment lawsuit.

Sid, they are unhappy over it but the complaints are a little muted since it looks like the Brewers will trade Grienke before the end of July as it is unlikely they will be able to resign him as a free agent. The Braves seem to be the team mentioned most as being most interested in him

LaRussa is held by Brewer fans in the same esteem as he is held by Cub fans--public enemy No. 1. The thought here is that L is retaliating against Grienke because Grienke, just before the NL Championship Series, after basically not talking to the media all year, inexplicably went off on Chris Carpenter in a media tirade.

Of course, Grienke ended up having a terible series.

I think Brewer fans are starting to rue the trades they made to get into the playoffs. They gave up thier best prospects to get Grienke and Marcum and, right now, the team is a sub 500 team, both Marcum and Grienke are likely gone, and their farm system is pretty barren.

Plus everyone in the office is still made at me over the Tigers signing Prince.

But, Packer training camp opens soon so everyone here will forget about baseball in a few weeks.

LOL! Must be fun smiling on the inside while your associates are growling about the loss of Prince .

There is a similar dispute in Cincinnati over LaRussa's all-star snubs of Johnny Cueto and Brandon Phillips, likely due to the brawl last season and Phillips' comments about hating the Cardinals.

Oh well. Life goes on in MLB.

    Back to the main topic.

Jones sued Clinton for sexual harassment while he was gov. of Ark. He denied having sex with Lewinski in a deposition in the case. He was under oath and committed the felony of perjury. He lost his ticket to practice law in Ark. because of it.
