Congratulations, I think that should put to bed the Notre Dame may be over rated ideas. That's a big win against a team that is usually pretty good.

Were the Doomers that good or is Penn State a bit shakey?

    Don,

As I said in another topic, it's uncharacteristic for me to think this way, but I believe we are that good. I was at the game and came away thinking that PSU is a very good team with talented players at all positions. If we can beat them, we must be pretty good. IMO, their "issue" is the QB's lack of big game experience, hence his inconsistency. That will change in time. I will be surprised if PSU does not make big noise in the Big 10.

I predict an 8-4 season for PSU with an upset or two along the way....(look out LLoyd Carr)

<t>I enjoy Saturday? Outstanding game from the Irish. Weis called a great game and Brady was lighs out most all the game. Some of those throws to Carlson were sick.<br/>

Speaking of Carlton's catches, seeing them live was absolutely mind boggling. That guy has great hands and is fearless in a crowd. If only he could block..........

I went to the game and had mixed thoughts on the Irish. First the O line did not block particularly well in run situations. Their pass protection was pretty good. Quinn at times like great but threw a few very poor passes. He has avoided the turnover which is a big plus. We do not have much in big play capability but we move the ball well. Overcoming penalties is often difficult.
The D this year is much better.
Nduwke is in my mind the most improved player on the team. I spent a lot of time watching him yesterday and he really took good angles in coverage. He at times blitzed. He looks much quicker which is probably related to his weight loss in the off season.
Nice to see or kicker make every one. That's got to help his psyche.
Our rush defense was weak especially on the corners. PSU averaged 5 yds per carry in the first half. Our LBs are a big weakness.
    Overall a good effort.

<t>In spite what Charlie says about the defense an its improveement IMO I don't think it is anywhere near what he wants and will have say two years from now when he has had a legit chance to recruit his guys on that side of the ball. Nothing imposing looking about this bunch. D-Line is small and still not that quick. No difference makers at the LB position and I still cannot wait till I don't see A. Wooden on the field again. They have played well so far as a unit and I pray it continues into this Saturday against the guys with the ugly helments to go three and zero. The staff just has to land a couple of top defensive linemen in the recruiting class coming up.<br/>

Weis knows what he is doing and watching the wheels turning on TV yesterday was fun. What a great weekend.</t>
