Was watching Greta Van Susteren last evening and happened on an interview with a lady economist, I think.

In any case, Greta asked her what she thought the single biggest hurdle facing the US and any potential recovery was and the reply was " the percentage of people working"

This lady stated that the same amount of people are working today ( in real numbers ) that were working in 1970.

In 1970 the population of the US was 203 million. Today its 335 million.

Translation: The same number of people are supporting themselves as a well as an additional 132 million people. And that is why the boat is sinking.

In 1970 you also had millions of young people putting themselves through college; working part time when they were in high school; summer jobs; old people volunteering all over the place and California was #1 in every category. Thank you Gov. Reagan...

    Meanwhile...back in 2012
That annual poll of business execs came out today and California was ranked dead last as the most hostile state toward businesses both small and large for the 8th year in-a-row. Joining us at the bottom were those other slices of left-wing paradise called New York, Illinois and Michigan. Once again, Texas was #1.

But the unemployment numbers will look good for Obama.

    Go figure.

Go figure Pennsylvania. They are sitting sitting on decades worth of coal that represent tens of thousands of potential jobs and Obama and his cabal will not let them mine it.

Yet he leads Romney in the polls there by 7 points!

Good find, Sid. So many Democrats are waking up to find themselves in a political party being run by the San Francisco crazies and the Chicago Machine. Even here in Southern California, where I'm surrounded by liberal Democrats; I'm not aware of any who're in favor of immediately destroying the economies of entire states like Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio, but that's exactly what the president's policies will do and they know it...

Obama: “If You’re Willing To Work Hard You Should Be Able To Find A Good Job”…

What does this clown or his supporters know about working?

    Via RCP:

“If you are willing to work hard you should be able to find a good job. If you’re meeting your responsibilities, you should be able to own a home, maybe start a business. You should be able to give your kids the chance to do even better than you, no matter who you are, no matter where you come from, no matter what you look like, no matter your last name, no matter who you love,” Obama said at a campaign event in Seattle.

White House Adviser Says “Critical” To Maintain Obama Keynesian Economic Policies Despite Bad Jobs Report…

Doubling down on failure is never a good idea (felt the need to state the obvious).

    Via Politico:

A recovery that looked strong at the start of the year sputtered last month, with the economy adding a mere 69,000 jobs in May — well below expectations of 150,000 new jobs — and the unemployment rate ticking up slightly to 8.2 percent, the Labor Department reported. The May numbers capped a stunning reversal from monthly reports of more than 200,000 new jobs as the headwinds of Europe and a broader global slowdown have struck the U.S. economy. [...]

Alan B. Krueger, chairman of Obama’s Council of Economic Advisors, said in a statement that the nation’s economic woes “were long in the making and will not be solved overnight.”

“We are still fighting back from the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression,” Krueger said, putting the best spin on the numbers by adding, “Today we learned that the economy has added private sector jobs for 27 straight months, for a total of 4.3 million payroll jobs over that period. The economy is growing but it is not growing fast enough.”

“There is much more work that remains to be done to repair the damage caused by the financial crisis and deep recession that began at the end of 2007. Just like last year at this time, our economy is facing serious headwinds, including the crisis in Europe and a spike in gas prices that hit American families’ finances over the past months. It is critical that we continue the President’s economic policies that are helping us dig our way out of the deep hole that was caused by the severe recession.”

    JO'Co,

these guys have no clue......they have yet to realize that what we are seeing today is as a result of his policies, rhetoric and ideology and complete and utter lack of leadership......another term for these jokers risks much of what made this country special amongst the great powers of world history

These clowns couldn't run a lemonade stand. If BO can't get economy numbers up in an election year he never will. The remarkable American economy can usually heal itself. That assumes that those piloting the ship don't keep dropping anchors along the way.

something that I've been running into locally here is a large number of people who have exhausted their unemployment (which is 200 a week btw) and emergency unemployment benefits. Those people fall off the unemployment numbers. Our Governor has been citing these examples of great gains in this state, but people are groaning..

I've spared you all the constant bitching and blaming that Dave did when he was in the spot I'm in now. What I do know is that my friend who owns one of the South's largest chains of BBQ restaurants has people with phds working for them... in their stores.. .think about it.

It really does amaze me how the right can get so caught up in what Obama does wrong while at the same time absolving his predecessor of any and all bad results.

Again....2008.....the worst year for jobs since 1945.

When will the right own up?

From that article Dave just provided
and from this article I just googled 10 seconds ago:
    http://www.tradingeconomics.com/united-states/unemployment-rate

I **** you not that you can go down to my pal's BBQ shop in 3 of their locations and have your stuffed baked potato made by a guy who was designing rockets for the Army 2 years ago.

Most of my friends without children have taken contract jobs in Alaska, Canada, Japan and elsewhere.. They'd love to be married with families, but they can't stop travelling the globe working long enough to even meet somewhere. Thankfully, they are employed.

I'll share with you just a brief bit of my humiliation because I really hate all that pity and boo hoo ****... Do you want to know what the most exhaustive interview process I've gone through these past several months has been?

Burger King manager dude... f*cking Burger King manager... a job I didn't get and I know the guy hiring who is trying to get me on as a manager in another city about 20 miles outside of town. When he was hiring for this past opening, he had 25 finalists for the job... 24 of them were college graduates (non-liberal arts thank you).. Think about that for a second..24 of 25 people applying for a job as a Burger King manager are college graduates..

I've come closer to getting hired for the State Department than I did Burger King.. W T F?

This job market is ******* atrocious. Just like the the whole price of gas being the Republican's fault... and Hurricane Katrina being the Republican's fault and Bank failures being the Republican's fault.. it's all ******** and people who ignorantly point fingers at just donkey or elephant as if they shoulder all the blame are the problem.. not the leaders.. they didn't put themselves there.. people like you did... and it's maddening.

ok, my last post on this crap...
