The First High Profile Canary Dies in the Obama Coal Mine Home - by BigFurHat - May 30, 2012 - 11:03 America/New_York - 11 Comments Former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis now a Republican
what the what? I know both Davis and Sparks... I thought Davis was staying independent? When did he switch to the GOP?!? Oh... this is interesting..
Easy there, Doc. He was never a LIBERAL Democrat, but to say that a democrat cannot hold those beliefs is to ignore the vast middle, the moderate-to-conservative democrats who, believe it or not, still exist in this country. I am one, and I agree with his quote above.
Obama Ally Arthur Davis Bolts Democratic Party For GOP… Via USA Today: Former Alabama congressman Artur Davis, who seconded Barack Obama’s nomination for president four years ago, says he’s leaving the Democratic Party. The one-time rising Democratic Party star — once described as “the Obama of Alabama” — said on his website that he is switching his voter registration to Virginia and is considering running for office as a Republican. Davis was also critical of the Obama administration, with whom he was sometimes at odds while in Congress on issues such as health care. “This is not Bill Clinton’s Democratic Party (and he knows that even if he can’t say it),” Davis wrote. Regarding specific policy differences, Davis said: I have regularly criticized an agenda that would punish businesses and job creators with more taxes just as they are trying to thrive again. I have taken issue with an administration that has lapsed into a bloc by bloc appeal to group grievances when the country is already too fractured: frankly, the symbolism of Barack Obama winning has not given us the substance of a united country. Davis, who served in Congress from 2003–2011, was once mentioned as a possible attorney general in the Obama administration. While in the House, he became a member of the centrist-minded New Democrat Coalition and occasionally bucked his party.
the only reason I did not go to work for the Davis campaign was the Obama factor.... looks like I'll be making a phone call and sending off a resume cover letter with an apology...
Report: Axeldouche And Holder Nearly Came To Blows After White House Meeting… My money would have been on Axeldouche as the winner of that fight, he seems like he’d fight dirty (biting, ball-grabbing, eye-goughing etc.). Via Newsmax: Two of President Barack Obama’s closest allies, former senior advisor David Axelrod and Attorney General Eric Holder came close to blows immediately after a Cabinet meeting, according to a new book to be released next week. Only the intervention of senior adviser Valerie Jarrett prevented the two men from throwing punches, Daniel Klaidman claims in the book, “Kill or Capture.” Politico’s Mike Allen got an advance look at the book, which is due to hit stores on Tuesday, and revealed the altercation in the West Wing which started when Holder accused Axelrod of trying to place a political operative in his Department of Justice. “After the [Cabinet meeting] ended, Axelrod made a beeline for the attorney general,” Klaidman wrote in the book subtitled “The War on Terror and the Soul of the Obama President.” “Obama’s senior adviser was incensed. It had gotten back to him that Holder and his aides were spreading the word that he was trying to improperly influence the Justice Department. Axelrod, who knew all too well that even the hint of White House meddling with Justice Department investigations could detonate a full-blown scandal, had been careful not to come close to that line,” Klaidman continues. “‘Don’t ever, ever accuse me of trying to interfere with the operations of the Justice Department,’ he warned Holder after confronting him in the hallway. ‘I’m not Karl Rove,’ he added, referring to George Bush’s political consigliere, who had been accused of pressuring Justice to fire politically unpopular US attorneys.” Klaidman — who reported on the War on Terror for both Newsweek and the Daily Beast — says Holder was incensed at “being publicly dressed down” by Axelrod and was determined to stand his ground. “The two men stood chest to chest. It was like a school yard fight back at their shared alma mater, Stuyvesant, the elite public high school for striving kids from New York City. White House staffers caught in the crossfire averted their eyes.”
Virtually Everything Blows Up in The Left’s Face Home - by BigFurHat - June 4, 2012 - 10:45 America/New_York - 5 Comments Left-Wing schmucks in Wisconsin were publishing the names of people who don’t vote, as if this was akin to be a blight on society. It turns out the guy running for Lt. Governor in the recall never voted before 2010. They deserve to have the “stupid” punched out of them, the socialism will just naturally follow. Democrat Mahlon Mitchell, who is challenging incumbent Wisconsin GOP Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch in Tuesday’s special recall election, recently told Jeremy Segal of the blog Rebel Pundit that he was not engaged in politics before 2008. Mitchell did not vote until 2010, records show.

Pelosi Nostalgic For Bush Daily Caller WASHINGTON — During a Wednesday talk at an event honoring her 25 years of service in the House of Representatives, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi highlighted some of her favorite and most memorable moments, largely concentrating on achievements made with George W. Bush and making no mention of anything she was proud of or accomplished with President Barack Obama. Pelosi gushed about how Bush is “really a lovely man.”

This is what passes for political discourse in this country. (Yeah, I know it was a rally...but geez.)

. The number of people who have jobs in this country is the same as 1970, when the population was 205 million. The current population is around 315 million. This is David Axelrod, who is running Obama's campaign. Dem Rep. Frederica Wilson To Offer Bill Repealing “Stand Your Ground” Laws, Says The “Thought That Zimmerman Could Get Away With Such a Horrendous Crime Is a Travesty of Justice”… The only travesty of justice in the Trayvon case is Zimmerman being charged with second-degree murder. Via The Hill: The House Democrat who represents Trayvon Martin’s district will soon propose legislation repealing the nation’s “Stand Your Ground” laws, which are under a microscope following the shooting death of the Florida teenager earlier this year. Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) said eliminating such laws might have prevented February’s fatal confrontation between the 17-year-old Martin, an unarmed African-American, and George Zimmerman, 28, an Hispanic neighborhood watch volunteer carrying a 9mm handgun. Zimmerman, who was arrested more than month after the shooting, says he acted in self-defense when Martin attacked him. His case will spin largely on Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, which permits the use of deadly force in certain cases of self-defense. Wilson this week said the law threatens to enable “a horrendous crime.” “The thought that George Zimmerman could get away with such a horrendous crime is a travesty of justice,” Wilson said Tuesday in a statement announcing her bill. “There are bills in other states known by different taglines that have the same unintended consequences as [Florida's] Stand Your Ground [law]. They should all be repealed.”
It wouldn't have eliminated the death of Martin. Zimmerman would still be an idiot who failed to heed the advice of the 911 operator and wait for police. He still was stupid enough to get out of his car and approach Martin, Martin still would have for what ever reason attacked (provoked or not) Zimmerman who would have still shot him. Only thing that would have changed is that he wouldn't have the Stand your ground law protecting him, which I doubt if he was thinking about when he got out of his vehicle.
