    Here's a clue.....

In today's Florida Trend newsletter they reported that the state's FCAT test scores( measures writing proficiency ) have dropped precipitiously.

Their answer? they are lowering their benchmarks for writing proficiency.

I am sure quality teachers are just lined up to come teach in Florida:

Sometimes you only get out what you put in.

We see the results of teacher accomplishments over the past years. They apparently are overpaid based on the latest test scores. And as every lying teacher always told me they "aren't in it for the money."

MCG, at every step you knock people who are trying their best to balance income vs expenses at the state level.

Just what is your solution to the shortfall in Florida?

Or is it just you like to complain?

No....but I am mystified at the legions of conservatives who think all cuts are just fluff.....cuts for agendas and programs that aren't needed.

An old saying down here in the south applies......you can't get blood out of a turnip.

You want limited public services and education.....just keep cutting.

    Who's gonna notice? 8)

So.....in Detroit who should complain when they don't pass the millage needed to stave off more cuts in the Detroit police force in a city that already ranks as one of the highest crime cities in America:

    http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120509/METRO01/205090451

More taxes???.....blooey..... but don't complain when your car is stolen or you have a gun pointed at your head during a store robbery or are present at a downtown square with your pregnant wife when several shots ring out and people are shot......all of which happened to me when times were "good" in Detroit....

Speaking of not getting blood out of a turnip...

    Got $13,000?

    http://cnsnews.com/blog/terence-p-jeffrey/12984-increase-debt-household-first-2011-bipartisan-spending-deal

    You just don't get it.

    Somebody....has....to....pay....for....all....this.

You seem to think that there is some big pool of "rich people's money" that will cover it. You are wrong. It is you and me...and all those poor folks in Detroit.

Do you really think more police translates to less crime? Do you really think more teachers results in better students?

There are problems all over this country, but putting more wallpaper over the cracked wall ain't gonna fix it no matter how pretty it may be for the next little bit.

Well I have a hard time following this rant. Just who do you think should decide whether or not to pay more taxes? The people who live where the tax will apply or those that choose to visit there? On top of that you've already noted that Detroit is
What type of idiot brings his pregnant wife into that place???

Exactly why I have been preaching concealed legal carry by citizens. I can guarantee you that I keep my head on a swivel. I do not sit in a restaurant unless I am facing the entry/exit door. I take responsibility for protecting myself as well as my family.

Where were the police when the shots rang out? Just minutes away when the criminals are ony seconds away. I may die by the sword some day but I will die while putting up the best defense possible... not while cowering and begging for the criminal to spare my life and/or the life of a loved one.

And that somebody in Detroit will have that opportunity.....or don't complain if the crime rate goes to new highs.

One huge reason the former school district for my children......Grosse Pointe....was a superior educational district was because the taxpayers of GP never turned down a school millage increase as opposed to Detroit which never passed one.
