re: Smith He was an elite free safety and they tried to turn him into an OLB. It was a classic case of coaches trying to be too clever...
I don't know if Jamorous Slaughter is an elite Free Safety, but with the emergence of Collinsworth as a legit safety you can bet we'll see Slaughter at OLB some this year as well as at corner at times. Also I caught a little bit of the ND/Syracuse Lacrosse match, Irish were up 4-0 and went on to win 8-6 for their first win ever over the Orangemen. Irish are currently #2 in Lacrosse. I have to say that I don't really get lacrosse so can't watch it for long. Same for Field Hockey. Now Irish Hurling that's a sport you can get into, real blood can be spilled there!
Doc Spent Sat. and part of sunday watching my grandson and grandaughter play lacrosse. It's a fun game for kids to play and it requires conditioning. Because of a family wedding my grandson can't attend this summer's ND Lacrosse camp but he probably will be going next summer. (it's all part of the subtile indocrination )
Whoa....Tommy Rees and Carlos Calabrese were arrested last night. Carlo got off easy with a charge of misdeanor disorderly conduct and is already out but Rees is still in jail with charges of resisting law enforcement, battery to law enforcement, minor consumption and public intoxication, one of which was a felony charge. Carlo will be suspended for the summer most likely but be back in the fall. Tommy most likely with that battery of a police officer (a felony) suspension for the year and his ND career could be over. Much discussion has gone on over Tommy not losing the starting job this Spring. Most were hoping that either Golson or Hendrix would step up early and win the job and that Tommy would be relegated to 3rd string. Well it appears that they may have gotten their wish, but not in the way that they wanted it to happen. I think everybody wanted one of the young guns to step up and seize the job, not be handed it to them via disciplinary action on Tommy.
Idiots! I'm sure I will hear more about this from Dad. He will be furious. And thus ends the Rees era in South Bend
According to a source on a message board was cops came to house and turn music down. The players got lippy, then Rees took off and ran from cops. After getting caught he kicked the cop. IDK, take this story for what it's worth, message board info. My only question is why couldn't rees run from the pocket?
South Bend police had received a call about a loud party at about 12:30 a.m. on Notre Dame Avenue, an off-campus area that is home to many Notre Dame students, South Bend police Capt. Phil Trent said. Officers found a "madhouse of people" drinking and congregating outside a home, enjoying the warm night, he said. "It was a nice night, they were drinking, they're having a loud time, which is the reason we're there." As officers approached, five or six people hopped a fence and led police on a chase, Trent said. The officers caught up with the group and used their hands to corral them, but Rees "actively resisted," Trent said. "It wasn't terribly violent, but it was enough to be considered resisting," he said. One officer suffered a minor scrap and "had the wind knocked out of him" while trying to stop the group, Trent said. Police also arrested Notre Dame linebacker Carlo Calabrese on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. He was released after posting $150 bond.
No, you do not want to know. 8) Apparently Carlo was not one of the five who jumped the fence . He walked up on Rees scuffling with the cops and interjected himself, almost getting physically involved. He had to be restrained by friends but then he started shouting threats at the police. That was when he was arrested. What is shocking is that neither of these two were that shitfaced at .011 and .012. That really calls their common sense into question. Rees apparently really resisted arrest . First a wrestling and then he kneed one cop in the stomach knocking the wind out of him. Then he was pepper sprayed and cuffed and kicked at the cops while they were putting him in the back seat. Based on this, if true, I would expect Rees to be kicked out of school completely. Maybe Carlo as well since he verbally threatened the police. I gotta call Tom Hagen.
To make Carlo's actions even more ridiculous, he is 21. he was facing nothing until he channeled his inner Joe Pesce.
If he had eaten a Snickers, it wouldn't have happened. Henceforth, he will be known as Carlo MP (My People) Calabrese. Hopefully, Carlo will recover and learn from this and will contribute next season. Rees......a much more difficult dilemma.
Rees' felony charge just reduced to a misdemeanor. As such , he was released from jail a little while ago. The defense team is doing its job. 8)
Prayers by the Bowden prayer group were answered. Felony charges were dropped by the officer involved who is a Purdue fan.
