Had a very nice lunch with Tom and Cindy on Saturday in Houston....I thought as I was driving by them on my way out after lunch ...hey I need a photo of them with their new Harley's. All I had was my smartphone, which when I stopped and loaded the camera app, I could barely read the screen because of the sunlight..so I just fired away and hoped. Turned out pretty good.
Great time with you Terry. That was an excellent choice of restaurants. Well, the warm up trip to Houston may just be the longest day of riding we do for a while. There were no problems along the way to induce this. No issues the next day. Just an agreement between the two of us that we would like to take several long trips this year. Inclimate weather is usually found somewhere along the way of a cross country trip. We bit the bullet to become a 5 vehicle family of two. We purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 16 ft trailer. Nyle Maxwell Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep absolutely adore us. The Harley dealer is outfitting the trailer with wheel chocks and D rings to strap down the bikes. Our trip starting this coming weekend will now be in comfort of AC vehicle with heated and COOLED seats. Once we get to Panama City, we will back the bikes off the trailer.
We researched and found the Grand Cherokee with the 5.7L hemi and the factory towing package to have one of the highest tow ratings of any vehicle it's size at 7500 lbs. The SRT8 Grand Cherokee has a lower towing capacity and I am assuming it is because of the added weight of that vehicle due to AWD. Here is the towed vehicle. We leave later today.
