new Stadium. That would be quite a deal to do that instead of some renovation. According to the Chronicle if they did so, they would play home games in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. Kyle Field I'm not surprised that they want to renovate and expand, but they have had financial problems in the Ath Dept in the past. T his will be expensive no matter what they do.
The east and west sections of Kyle are OLD... about 80+ years for the lower foundations. They are in bad shape. They are doing the studies now, and it's starting to look likely that it would cost more, and take longer to "renovate" the old sections than to blow it up and start over. Most of us suspect they will implode the old sections, and then build something similar that will adjoin to the current endzone seating. It will be very expensive in any case, but getting funding for football has never been a problem. It's all the minor sports that Bill Byrne loves so much that has been punching a hole in our budget. :x
Before retirement, I worked in public finance, which in brief was the financing of school building and renovation projects. It was not unusual for the cost of complete renovation, with the constraints imposed by old construction practices, to be judged less efficient and effective in the long run than new construction.
