    I didn't realize how long he'd been with the Sox.
    I guess he really wanted to play a few more years but got no offers. How many catchers last till age 40 as a catcher?

    I always admired him as a player.

    Johnny Bench said he knew it was time for him to retire when it started hurting to walk a golf course. I think he stopped catching regularly when he was 34-35.

    Posada caught until he was 39.

    Sometimes, numbers don't tell the story of a winner until it's all over. You can argue all you want about numbers, but Tek was a winner, literally, at every level.
