I didn't stay up to watch the last of GaTech/Colorado game. It turns out it was an exciting finish with Colorado blocking what would have been the game winning FG as the clock ran out.

I guess this LSU v the SEC is more complicated. It was the State Court that ruled the players can be on the LSU roster and the SEC is barred from retaliation. But the SEC has sued them in Federal Court and if they win there then it's possible I guess that they can rain down all the stuff they have threatened kiffin and LSU with if those guys play

Some of you - myself included - are dead set against what's happening as Terry explains above. Here's a much broader desription by our local sports columnist describing exactly what's happening and why. Some of you don't like Gregg Doyel. If you can put your feelings aside long enough to read his column on the matter, I think you'll have a more clear picture, as do I.

Well, East Carolina shouldn’t be a challenge for Alabama but who knows. What I will be watching most closely is our run game. If we don’t get 150 yds on the ground today I will be concerned.

If I'm misreading the room, I apologize. I thought you'd like to see the paywalled article I posted, so here's the copy/pasted version. Should take 2-3 minutes to read:

Doyel: Shocking! Hometown judges keep ruling in favor of hometown football programs

    upload_2026-9-5_12-31-50.jpeg Gregg Doyel

    Indianapolis Star

    Updated Sept. 4, 2026, 5:27 p.m. ET

The perversion of justice that is college football eligibility is playing out in courtrooms around the country, with judge after judge making one mindboggling ruling after another, with one thing in common:

Judges keep ruling in favor of the school in their jurisdiction.

    There are no coincidences.

Nope, what we have here is exactly what it looks like: Local judges torching common sense by twisting themselves into logic pretzels to find a way for Dae’Quan Wright to play for LSU and Braxton Fely to play for Oklahoma and Jaheim Patterson and Van Wells to play for Oregon State.

It’s cynical, yes, but let’s point out the obvious: Local judges generally must be re-elected to keep their paycheck, and one of the fastest ways to lose votes at the ballot box is to rule against the local college football team. In Louisiana, millions of folks either went to LSU or root for the Tigers or both. Same goes for Oregon State in Oregon, and the Oklahoma Sooners in Oklahoma.

Expert NFL picks: Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.

This story has cloaked exactly nobody in glory, from opportunistic LSU coach Lane Kiffin to the narcissistic SEC to the pathetic NCAA to any college athlete – sorry, any former college athlete – who turned pro, saw how hard that was, and is trying to return to college for another year at the NIL trough.

Wright dressed out for the Cleveland Browns against the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 23 but didn’t play because he’s not going to make the team. The next day his NFL agent, Drew Rosenhaus, announced Wright’s commitment to play for Kiffin at LSU.

Seriously, who do you root for in a case centered around perhaps the most disgusting athletic department in the country – LSU’s most famous recent and/or current coaches: Brian Kelly, Will Wade, Kim Mulkey, Lane Kiffin – as it takes on the equally disgusting SEC and NCAA on behalf of failed pro athletes trying to return to school?

Judge William Jorden of the 19th Judicial District Court chose LSU. Where is the 19th Judicial District Court? In Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Maybe 2½ miles from Tiger Stadium.

The same basic thing happened in the case of Patterson and Wells, who accused the NCAA of breach of contract, declaratory judgment and intentional interference with contractual relations. What does all that gobbledygook mean? Ask Benton County Circuit Court judge Matthew Donohue, who issued a temporary restraining order against the NCAA.

Benton County Circuit Court is in Corvallis, Oregon, about 1½ miles from Oregon State’s Reser Stadium.

The same basic thing happened at Oklahoma, where Cleveland County Judge Jeff Virgin granted a temporary restraining order to a former Boise State defensive lineman, Braxton Fely, against the NCAA. Why would Virgin rule in favor of Fely, who wants a fifth year of eligibility after attending Denver Broncos rookie minicamp?

Who knows. Never mind that Judge Virgin graduated from the Oklahoma School of Law in 2008. Pay attention to this:

The Cleveland County Courthouse is in Norman, Oklahoma, 1½ miles from the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, where Fely hopes to play after transferring to Oklahoma.

This has been happening for years, judges finding a way to make a legal ruling – based on the law or precedent or whatever it’s based on – that just so happens to serve their own electoral interest. You remember Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, who sued in 2024 for the right to play a sixth college season. Guess who gave him that right: Judge William L. “Chip” Campbell Jr.

    Guess where Judge Campbell works?

The United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee in Nashville, located 2 miles from Vanderbilt’s FirstBank Stadium.

What do people see in Louisiana or Oregon or Oklahoma? The same thing they saw in Nashville two years ago: A judge doing the right thing! Boomer Sooner and Go Beavs and Geaux Tigers!

And #AnchorDown, while we’re at it.

The rest of us – until a player for our favorite school needs a hometown ruling – see this for what it is: One judicial joke after another. But the politicians, they’re persuasive. There’s a reason Jeff Landry became governor in 2024 of the great state of Louisiana: He can read a room and craft a message. And the message he crafted this week on behalf of Dae’Quan Wright (and Zxavian Harris) sure did sound reasonable, didn’t it?

“The court has ruled in favor of the athletes!” Landry wrote where all truly noble politicians do their most important work: on social media. “Again, they are not professional football players circling back after years in the NFL. They are college players who were told, by the NCAA, that they were done. So they took the only door that was open, only to watch the NCAA change the lock behind them. I am sure these athletes are relieved and anxious to get back in the game! Let’s spot the ball! #GeauxTigers!”

Who could argue with any of that compassion? Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr could. He has asked SEC commissioner Greg Sankey to punish schools that would add former NFL players to their roster. Why would Carr do that? Because Georgia isn’t trying to claim anyone off the NFL waiver wire.

    LSU is.

Justice is blind – but all politics is local, don’t you know.

    Go Dawgs, and all that.

LSU not willing to take the risk they will lose in Federal Court and have consequences.

Tight end Dae'Quan Wright and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris, who were cleared earlier this week to return to college football after brief stints in the NFL, have not been added to LSU's roster for the season opener at home against Clemson.

Neither was expected to play Saturday even if they had been added -- Harris did not practice and Wright practiced just twice -- but they could be on the roster later in the season.

Speaking on ESPN's "College GameDay," LSU coach Lane Kiffin said it "wasn't easy" to leave Wright and Harris off the roster. He added the decision was made for the "big picture of LSU and the LSU football program" amid the "uncertainties of what could come by adding them to the roster."

So Alabama had over 200 yds rushing while that’s good and it’s definitely not a bad sign, it was still against East Carolina. Better indicator next week against Kentucky.

Sure seems that Western got screwed as the stadium clock was at 0 when the ball was going out of bounds.

This is a carbon copy of the 2005 (I think) Big 12 Championship game between Texas and Nebraska. i believe the Longhorns got a very favorable call on a Colt McCoy pass that sailed out of bounds as the clock seemingly expired for the game...but refs said that there was 1 second left on the clock and i forget how they came up with it, but in retrospect it was probably a BS Call.

I think it allowed a game winning FG to be attempted and Texas made it.
