Camp opens today, open to the public for the next 3 days! New offensive coordinator, new WR coach, alot of new faces on defense to go with pretty much the entire returning offense, incl 4 returning starters on the OL. Hopefully they can fill the massive hole at RG from last year. I think the defense will surprise, they've recruited well with alot of very high quality additions. On offense we lost Carnell Tate - #4 overall pick in the draft - and two very talented and highly touted youngsters to ND - Porter and Graham - and a couple solid TE's, so the big question on the offense is who's gonna line up opposite JJ on the outside?? Next up? Just a little reminder for the new WR coach on what the expectations are from his room! There's these guys and JJ obviously but don't forget Harrison Jr, Egbuka and Tate as well. Touch schedule with road trips to Texas, Indiana, SC and Iowa to go along with Oregon, X and Illinois at home. Whatever they get, they're gonna have to earn it. Last year's OL kept them from being championship caliber, I'm hopeful another year of maturity and experience and a new RG can put us over the hump. Football season is here fellas! Enjoy!
That is a tough schedule. Early season at Texas is big for both teams. Longhorns are deep and talented Expectations are very high in Austin.
Yep, that's gonna be a banger. Don't expect a repeat of last year's game as both now have experienced QB's returning, expect a little more wide open offenses. Both coaches will learn alot about what they got this year and will surely be a beneficial experience for us given the trips to Bloomington, Iowa City and SC later in the season. Never thought I'd say that about Bloomington but they're gonna be a force once again
Looks like the Hoosiers will also have their fifth year pass allstar rusher returning this season. I worry about the trip to Texas. They are bound to be wound up for this home encounter, after the difficult loss for them here last year.
All eyes are on Arch , he desperately needs to have a great game. Another outing like the one in Columbus will be a problem for the fans.
I just don't see that happening in Austin with a year under his belt. Last year you had a young QB starting his 1st game on the road in that environment facing an NFL coordinator with elite talent. An experienced Arch, the friendly confines of DKR facing a bunch of newbies and a whole year of tape on Patricia's schemes in your pocket to study should make things easy. With your talent, Sark is more than capable of cobbling together plenty to keep Buckeye fans awake at night. Early lines have the Longhorns by 2.5
Hopes running high with this version of the Buckeyes. Unexpected competition at RB1, several options to tinker with upgrading the OL, expected big contributions from transfers on both sides of the ball and the flashiest freshman of the bunch is not a WR named Henry, Jr. - don't be surprised to see a true freshman named Timmons starting at the nickel. Hard to believe that this team lost 4 of the first 11 players picked in the NFL draft and coaches still think there is enough talent left to vote #1 and camp insiders are talking alot about what's coming back. I'll just say it's been along time since I've seen/heard camp insiders be this excited for a team after one week of camp. It's a bit early for me tho I expect the offense to be more explosive with another year of maturity and experience up front, returning Heisman finalist, JJ and Co, and top 2 RB's returning as well. As we saw clearly in the post-season OL was not championship caliber, but with 4 returning starters hopefully another year of gets them where they need to be. Defense basically lost 4 first rounders and, in truth, sounds crazy but I'm not the least bit worried about this group. Actually expect the front to be improved with more depth, back end solid with good leadership - in spite of the loss of Downs - and we'll see if Coach Laurinaitis can replace the leadership and talent of the 5th and 7th picks in the draft from his LB room, he's recruited well, it's show time. Hard to imagine they can duplicate the production of last year's group, but I don't think they need to, I think they'll be plenty good enough, let the offense eat this year. Schedule is brutal but I think they're capable of making a deep run. 2nd year of DC Patricia's defense has to be beneficial and I'm excited about what new OC Arthur Smith brings to the running game. It has been a number of years since there is so much enthusiasm for football and basketball here in the buckeye state. I will take one of Tim Genry;s remarks and hope we are not disappointed.
When you recruit as well as the Buckeyes have under Day and develop those kids then you have what you have in Columbus.
