VaTech just got an anonymous 75M donation directed mostly to football. Previously they got a 20M donation again donated directly to football.

That's where we are it's an arms race on the financial front with most directed to football.

Texas State Court Judge, no doubt a Tech grad, granted Sorsby an injunction against the NCAA preventing Brendan Sorsby from playing this fall. This has stirred up a hornets nest for sure.

Big 12 ADs Reportedly Discuss Boycotting Texas Tech Game After Brendan Sorsby Decision

Decision makers in one of college football's Power Four conferences are having some potentially historic talks after the bombshell decision handed down by a judge in the Brendan Sorsby case.

The reverberations around the Brendan Sorsby situation continue to work their way through college football, and now the conference he plays in could get involved in an unprecedented way.

Controversy raged after the decision by a judge to grant the Texas Tech quarterback an injunction that will allow him to play football this season, overturning a year-long NCAA suspension for gambling, and the ruling could move some schools to consider altering their schedules because of it.

Following news of the decision, Big 12 athletic directors have held “serious conversations” about boycotting the entire Texas Tech team and refusing to play them this season, according to a report from Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger.

Tech should have booted him when the gambling was found. Serves em right if no one will play them.

Adam Rittenberg wrote up a piece he calls Future Power Rankings No doubt click bait for us College Football nuts who grab at everything we see till the season starts.

Once again, teams will be evaluated in the following categories:

    • Quarterback situation

    • Offensive line/defensive line outlook

    • Roster management

    • Star power (All-Americans, national award contenders, all-conference contenders)

    • Coaching staff
Here's a look at how every Power 4 team stacks up through the 2027 season in the Future Power Rankings model:

Here is his top 10. As an Irish fan I'm pleased to see that Freeman has people thinking this way about ND. But the proof is always on the field.

    1. ND
    2. Ohio State
    3. Texas
    4. Oregon
    5. Georgia
    6. Miami

    Grabbed this off a passive

As a reminder, these are championship boxes that I’ve tracked for teams during the CFP era:

    1. Top-8 in OF+ (combined FEI and SP+ rating, 12 of 12 CFP champions)
    2. Top-15 in DF+ (all CFP champions)
    3. QB in the top-10 in QBR (every CFP champion since 2017, 33 of the last 36 in the final-four)
    4. Joe Moore Award semi-finalists (11 of 12 champions)
    5. Top-15 in passing plays of 20+ yards (9 of 12)
    6. Havoc rate of 19.5% or higher (10 of 12)
    7. 1.47 net points per drive or higher (12 of 12). Every team since 2018 has been over 2.0 (Miami had 1.34 by the way)
    8. Over 50% blue-chip ratio (11 of 12)

Indiana checked every single one except for blue-chip ratio. They weren’t close there, but in every single way that measured their performance on the field, they were a worthy national champion.

I found it quite refreshing that Indiana won it all.

This Brendan Sorsby thing is getting nasty...

The Big 12 has started down the legal path to potentially sanction Texas Tech over its intention to play quarterback Brendan Sorsby.

On Monday, the conference filed a 47-page complaint against Texas Tech, the Texas attorney general, the system's chancellor, the school president and athletic director in seeking declaratory judgement and a preliminary injunction to enable it to enforce its bylaws.

In this landmark case — a league filing legally against one of its members — the Big 12 is asking a federal court to bar Texas Tech and the state's attorney general, Ken Paxton, from preventing the conference from "exercising its right under its bylaws to sanction Texas Tech," according to the complaint obtained by Yahoo Sports, which was filed in the Northern District of Texas in Dallas.

Turning away for a moment from the Texas drama, I read something about possible landing spots for everyone's favorite coach, Brian Kelly. The following is an excerpt:

Cincinnati, Boston College, Northwestern, Maryland, and Syracuse are seen as logical destinations for Brian Kelly if openings occur. Kelly is currently an unpaid consultant for Memphis, offering recruiting and program-building insights while awaiting his next opportunity.

I guess this is an end to this Saga.

Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby plans to apply for the NFL's supplemental draft, a stunning reversal in the saga over his eligibility after he admitted to betting on college sports.

I can't really see Kelly coaching again to tell you the truth. He does have a gig as a color analyst this fall with CBS.

Don, I was surprised that the author mentioned Cincinnati. He stiffed them to take the ND job before their bowl game to hopefully finish undefeated. As I recall, they lost the bowl game to Florida.

BC hired Bill O’Brian last year. Doubt that BC is willing to move on from him now. Maryland might be a good landing spot. They seem able to recruit a lot of talent but I think their athletic department is still in the red and having problems financially competing in the B10.
