Man when it rains, it pours. Now the Aggies will be "resting" #2 starter (arguably the best) Aiden Sims for the MSU series this weekend to be sure he's available for post season. Good lord if it wasn't for bad injury luck, the Aggies would have none!
Longhorns face Missouri in the last series. Missouri isn't a good team so that's a good thing for Texas. We are guaranteed a "top 9" slot for the SEC Tourney. Coach want's to sweep them and get to #2 behind Georgia, so no fiddling around with the pitching. He'll do that in the SEC Tourney.
ah RPI and cancelling games... Right now the Aggies are comfortably be in line for a top 8 seed (7 or 8) in all metrics...except RPI where I believe we are currently 10-11. Imagine if the Aggies had cancelled that last game against Prairie View whose RPI was down near 300 and cost them several spots even with a big win... the Aggies would be sitting 7-8 in RPI along with all their other metrics (and 18 conf wins). I don't like the idea of cancelling a game for that reason, but if the committee goes down that path, then so be it.
Scott, this sounds a lot like my argument for football teams not scheduling quality out-of-conference opponents because of the emphasis on the number losses vs the SOS.
kp, it is and it isn't. Because the baseball sched is so much larger, it has a "lesser" effect on SOS, but RPI is SO sensitive that it really penalizes you for giving a nice paycheck to local school that you've played for a long time. My preference would be NOT to schedule them... but I was really more pointing to the fact that there have been more than a few games cancelled in the last few weeks for this very reason. The Aggies chose to honor the commitment and now we'll see if they are punished for it. the Committee had previously said they will watch for this kind of cancellation and would frown on it in deliberations. We'll see what they really do in a week.
As I understood the announcers, he was called safe to begin with, despite letting up. I think that's why they let him stay on 2nd. I agree that it was confusing.
Disappointing finish for my Buckeyes in the Big Ten Tournament, lost to Washington, won over Rutgers and elimination loss to Michigan. Congratulation Bobda!
Where's Corey??? I figured he'd be in here by now talking smack about those Bruins. Not really smack I guess, they are pretty darned good.
Damn...took till 0200, but we got past Michigan. Up next winner of Oregon/Washington. Can't believe the Bruins walked off the Boilers.
No rain in the Forecast! But if you don't like the weather in Nebraska, give it 30 minutes, it'll change.
