If there's a loophole, Johnny C. can find it.

    Ugh....it's just not needed.

The NCAA has initiated the final steps to expand the men's and women's basketball tournaments to 76 teams, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

The expansion, which has been discussed for well over a year, is on track to be formalized in the upcoming weeks and would begin this coming season. Sources indicated mid-May as a potential timeline for an announcement.

Though there are still steps to take in terms of approvals via various NCAA committees, a source indicated "those are just formalities."

Agreed. More games, more money, I guess.

Interesting move by Duke. Alittle bit like the Notre Dame / NBC deal for football.

Duke is entering into a first-of-its-kind enterprise partnership with Amazon that also includes the retail giant and streaming service televising three marquee men's college basketball games next season.

The Blue Devils will face UConn in Las Vegas on Nov. 25, reigning champion Michigan at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 21, and Gonzaga on Feb. 20 in Detroit.

The deal will include extensive NIL opportunities for Duke athletics and is part of a broader retail partnership expected to be announced at a later date.

Don i always thought conference members gave all their media rights to their conference, am I wrong? If so how does Duke do a seperate deal with Amazon? Do they have to share their money with the rest of the conference, like football has to share it's Bowl revenue?

Ranking Portal Classes...Longhorns come in at #3. Sean Miller was a proven winner in the past and he some how got the Longhorns to the Sweet 16 this past season. Is this portal class gong to make us a contender for the Final Four? Hard to say but it's a good start.

    3. Texas Longhorns
Isaiah Johnson (16.9 PPG at Colorado)
David Punch (14.1 PPG at TCU)
Mikey Lewis (13.9 PPG at Saint Mary's)
Elyjah Freeman (9.2 PPG at Auburn)
Amari Evans (4.1 PPG at Tennessee)

One of only three teams with four players ranked inside our top 100 transfers, Texas carried the momentum from its surprising Sweet 16 run onto the recruiting trail. Punch was one of the best players in the portal, a breakout who does a little bit of everything. Johnson hit the ground running as a freshman at Colorado, immediately showing his high-level playmaking chops. Freeman and Evans are SEC-tested pieces, with Freeman poised for another step forward after transferring up from Division II last offseason. And Lewis, who was a big-game performer at Saint Mary's, should generate instant offense.

Must be fake news. Didn't he say the same thing other coaches say after a NC, that he's happy where he is and doesn't intend to move? If he didn't say it, I'll cut him some slack.

Sid, at Michigan, the new tradition is that a coach who wins a national championship bolts to the pros before the next season begins. I figured that May would be courted by the NBA given his quick success and youth but this fast exit is a little stunning.

I mentioned to a friend when I heard the news that I wonder if it's NIL and other aspects of the college game that nudged him to consider then accept the offer.
