Irish Lacrosse likely headed back to #1 after beating #1 Richmond last weekend and then now #1 UNC this weekend. We're currently #2, have to be #1 in the next poll

Finally! Baseball built a 5-0 lead over #13 Virginia and hung on for a 5-3 win. Stemmed the bleeding after an 8-game losing streak, thanks to SP Jack Radel, the only dependable SP on the team.

Well that didn't last long. Baseball vs. VA got run ruled and the game was called after 8 innings. Final score 20-5. Not a typo.

Terry/Sid, What has prompted Haralson (BB) to transfer in the portal as a freshman?

Wish I could answer that, Don. Maybe Terry has better insight. All I know is that our BB program is in terrible shape and apparently not getting better.

2 reasons Don. 1) he can get a lot more NIL money at other schools. ND men's basketball right now isn't paying what it takes to keep top talent. Which is why basically all of our top players left. You see this all over these days, but the Irish did nothing to try and compete to keep him. 2) Given the results that Coach Shrewsberry has achieved in his 3 years, I think a lot of the players who left just wanted to go someplace where things were trending up for the programs.

Just learned that Markus Burton has committed to Indiana via the portal.

I guess he wanted to stay close to home. There were rumors around Texas that Sean Miller was interested in him.

    Good luck to him.

The Irish had a player drafted last night in the WNBA Draft. Cass Prosper who many felt should have returned to ND ( or some where) to play another year of college basketball. But she felt ready to leave college and give it a go at the Pro's. She was drafted 19th overall by the Washington Mystics where she'll play alongside her former ND teammate Sonia Citron. Hope she makes it!

Also I diidn't know that the WNBA Commissioner was connected to former Irish coach, Muffet McGraw.

Cathy Engelbert, the first WNBA Commissioner (since 2019) and former CEO of Deloitte, played college basketball and lacrosse at Lehigh University under Hall of Fame coach Muffet McGraw. McGraw, a legendary Notre Dame coach, mentored Engelbert, who served as a team captain, and has expressed immense pride in her former player's leadership.
    Key Connections and Background:
    • Mentor-Mentee Relationship: Muffet McGraw coached Cathy Engelbert at Lehigh University from 1982 to 1987.
    • Mutual Success: Engelbert became the first female CEO of a Big Four firm (Deloitte) before leading the WNBA, while McGraw secured two National Championships at Notre Dame.
    • Lasting Impact: McGraw has been a strong advocate for women in leadership, a principle reflected in Engelbert's career and her role as WNBA Commissioner, where she focuses on elevating the women's game.
Engelbert has publicly credited McGraw for her influence, and McGraw has lauded Engelbert as an ideal leader.

Irish Men's Lacrosse beat Duke this weekend and will likely continue to be ranked #1. They have their last game at home vs Syracuse this coming weekend.

The Women beat Louisville on their Sr. night and will open the ACC Championship vs Clemson the #3 seed who beat them at Clemson earlier in the season.

Softball and Baseball not doing very well. Not likely to make the post season.

I saw that KK Bransford (WBB) has entered the portal. I was disappointed to see that as she's very good player but she will have her ND degree and I have to assume that she's looking to get a bigger NIL deal and probably look for a situation where she's getting more playing time. She's always been a key player but never a consistent starter, some of that is her injuries, but even next year she'll have to give up some playing time to allow the outstanding freshmen class to get on the court. Good luck to her.

The Irish football spring game will be this coming Saturday. So far from everything I've read the team has had an excellent spring, no major injuries! CJ Carr getting a ton of praise for the development he's gone through and big things are expected. The OL seems to be settling into a starting 5 and it's expected that it will be a very strong unit. Defense looking great. My favorite player on defense is Luke Talich who came to ND as a walk on, and has worked his way up the ladder and I think we'll see a lot of Luke this fall. Some observers are calling this the deepest and most talented ND squad in a long time.

My favorite also. You and I talked about him back when he committed as a preferred walk-on, and look how he's moved - your words - way up the ladder.

Baseball has lost the last 4 ACC series, 3 shutouts and only 1 win in 12 games. After a promising start to the conference season, they've faded into medioctrity. The overall record now is 1 game below .500 and 7-14 conference record. SMH
