A great nerve racking game. Canada took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a short handed penalty and then played tremendous lockdown defense that shut down a high powered USA team. With roughly 2 minutes left in regulation time, USA pulled its goalie and scored the equalizer on a great deflection off a wrist shot from the blue line by Knight.

Then, in overtime… Heartbreaking loss for Canada. Ecstasy for USA

Actually Knight deflected the wrist shot from Laila Edwards. She is a native Clevelander and is friends with the Kelse brothers, who helped fund her family to travel to Milan to watch her play. She is the first Black player to make the Senior Women's National Team.

Canada’s men’s team advance to the finals with a hard fought 3-2 win over Finland. The Finns jumped out to a 2-0 lead but then played too defensively although the Finn goaltender played a great game. The Canuks just have too much firepower to deal with by going into a shell for 2 periods. Canada scored the winning goal on the power play with roughly 30 seconds left in regulation time. Next up USA v Slovakia.

According to a 2025 Athletic article, hockey players are still getting teeth knocked out of their mouth. Houston is a prime candidate for an expansion franchise and this part of the article suggests a fun retirement gig for you if Houston is selected.

Team USA is blowing out Slovakia so on Sunday it will be the good guys vs the evil, whiny, cheating Canuks for the gold.

Did the Irish Skyboxers know that the head coach of the USA women’s team played his college hockey at Notre Dame?

Also, the gold medal game is at 6AM EST. :(

Don will be the only one here who will be up and already finished breakfast when the game starts!

No I did not know that. One thing I did find out today, is that unlike in the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, etc where the manager/head coach gets a championship ring. In the Olympics the Coaches don't get medals, just an atta boy!
