The service academies are the only candidates for that honor

Miami luring the Duke QB out of his contract?

He ultimately signed a lucrative, two-year deal with Duke, and, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel, it's the school's understanding that his contract gives them his exclusive NIL rights and that only Duke has the ability to cancel that.

On Friday, the final day for a player on a team not in Monday night's national title game to enter this year's portal, Thamel also reported:

"The only way [Mensah] can access revenue share money is through Duke, unless they terminate the contract. Mensah is in Year 2 contract for a deal that would pay him up to $4 million. The ability for any school to pay him outside of revenue share would be scrutinized."

Additionally, On3's Pete Nakos reported that there's no buyout in Mensah's Duke contract.

I don't get why the Big 10 is so committed to a 24 team playoff?

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- With a Friday deadline looming, the Big Ten and SEC remain deadlocked about the future format of the College Football Playoff following Sunday's annual business meeting of CFP leaders.

"Still more work to do," Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti said as he exited past more than a dozen reporters waiting outside the meeting room of the Lowe's hotel in South Beach.

The Big Ten and SEC have the bulk of control over the format in 2026 and beyond because of a memorandum of understanding that was signed by the 10 FBS commissioners -- including former American Conference commissioner Mike Aresco -- and Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua. If Petitti and SEC commissioner Greg Sankey can't agree on a format by Friday -- an extended deadline imposed by ESPN, the sole TV rights holder -- the playoff will stay at 12 teams for at least another year.

There is overwhelming support in the room for a 16-team playoff to begin as soon as 2026, sources said, but the Big Ten won't agree to it unless the SEC agrees to a 24-team format three years later. Sankey and Mississippi State president Mark Keenum, the chair of the CFP's board of managers, have stated publicly that the SEC would prefer a 16-team model. Sources have said Sankey doesn't want to commit to a 24-team field now, and Sankey wasn't immediately available for comment following the meeting.

i don't know whether to believe this or not, but with online classes and all sorts of alternative ways of getting credit for being a student.

...Tune in Monday to see Carson Beck, the "college football player" who reportedly has not been in a class since he graduated two years ago, ply his amateur hobby as a testament to student athletics.

Guys I can’t judge anyone, I’m assuming if X player is making $4 million or more per year the whole collegiate idea is an afterthought. Do I agree with this, not at all. Is it going to stop until changes are made, I highly doubt it.

Just glad to be at the dance tonight, I’m holding back expectations because, they can be painful. I think it’s a great matchup

Open at home with ND one of the winningest teams of all time and close at home vs IU one of the lossingest teams of all time. Who'd have thunk it!

I've decided that Pat Coogan, an ND grad and the starting IU Center is reason enough for me to root for IU enthusiastically.

Cignetti is such a prick, but in spite of that I'm still going to root for IU.
