Another job filled. I wonder if this will be how the Ole Miss saga plays? out? Kiffin taking the LSU job but staying with the Rebels through the playoffs? Eric Morris, who has led North Texas to a 10-1 record this season, has been hired as the next coach at Oklahoma State, it was announced Tuesday. Morris will remain with the Mean Green for the rest of the regular season as well as any potential appearances in the American Conference title game and College Football Playoff.
Not much movement. Oregon jumped Ole Miss but the rest of the top 10 remains the same. All the talk continues to be Miami/Notre Dame. The Irish have a higher FPI #3 vs #10, Irish have the higher SOR #12 to #15 . We have played 4 teams in the current CFP ranking and are 2-2, Miami has played 2 and are 1-1. But the real threat to the Irish is Alabama. If the Tide beat Auburn and get into the SEC Championship game and Win, They will jump the Irish and Oklahoma likely even given the head/head. The other threat is BYU and Tech both winning this weekend and then BYU upsetting Tech in the B12 Championship game, B12 then becomes a 2 bid league and that could mean even at #10 the Irish could be replaced by BYU, the #11 team replaced by the ACC Champion and the #12 team replaced by the Group of 5 team. Unless BYU opens up a big can of whoopass on Tech they aren't dropping out of the top 9 with a loss in the Big 12 Championship game.
Jim Mora leaves UCONN and takes the Colorado State job. Good move for him. Not even a Division 1 job but I see that Marshall Faulk is going to take the Southern job. He was a great RB in both college and the Pros and he's from New Orleans so he knows Louisiana.
Take Eli Drinkwitz off your game card for the coaching carousel. He's agreed to a 6 year extension at Missouri. Also, as if needed, Lincoln Riley has said he's 100% staying at USC. Is that the same as Tommy Tubberville saying the only way he's leaving Ole Miss is in a casket, which was delivered to Auburn 2 days later!!
Navy beat Memphis tonight 28-17, up next is Army. There isn't much of a chance that they will play in the AAC Title game as they need Tulane to lose to the worst team in the AAC in Charlotte. But beating Army gives them 10 wins 2 years in a row. Blake Horvath the Navy QB is a heck of a player.
The Gators are reportedly looking elsewhere than Kiffin, giving credence to stories that LSU is his destination. I guess the question will be about him coaching Ole Miss in the CFP. I heard Rick Neuheisel say that he wouldn't want Kiffin coaching his team when he's employed by one of his biggest rivals. This would never happen in the NFL and shouldn't happen in college either.
Stanford has hired it's new Head Coach. Never heard of him but he's a Stanford man and I'm sure that figured into it at least a little. STANFORD, Calif. – Tavita Pritchard has been named Stanford’s Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football as announced Friday by General Manager Andrew Luck. The 37th head coach in program history, Pritchard, a 2009 graduate of Stanford, currently serves as the quarterbacks coach of the Washington Commanders and will start in his role immediately following the Commanders’ Nov. 30 game against Denver. Pritchard will be introduced at a press conference on Tuesday.
Well he was pretty successful in that level of football, AAC is just a little step up from the Sun Belt so it's probably where he belongs right now.
Georgia Tech, in contrast to last week, came to play today but came up short, 16-9 to Georgia. Had a chance to tie in up at the last play of the game with a Hail Mary but defended well by Georgia. Very physical game. Given that Georgia is a top 4 seed, I suspect they would not be broken hearted if they are not in the SEC championship game next week.
Clark Lea got a new deal at Vanderbilt. Drinkwitz a new deal at Missouri. Oregon State hires Alabama's WR coach, JaMarcus Sheppard. LSU finally admits that it fired Brian Kelly and owes him the full buyout in his contract Florida moves on from Kiffin.
It's better for both Ole Miss and UGA not to play another game. Last year the Dawgs lost their starting QB in the SEC Championship game vs Texas. Had to play Gunner Stockton vs ND and we know how that turned out.
Can the Longhorns pass defense show up tonight, if they don't it's going to be a long night. Bobda, what's the typical Wolverine fans view of how Underwood has played this year? Do they feel he's right on the cusp and will be one of the top QB's in the Big 10 next year?
He is incredibly talented. Strong accurate arm and elusive when necessary. Short touch passes is an issue that needs improvement. M fans thought he was regressing as the season went on but he had his best game of the year against Maryland. The major concern for the fan base is do we have a coaching staff able to fully develop his talent.
Manning is having a rough game. Seems to have difficulty passing when moving and not passing to opeen receivers. But the longhorns defense, kicker and running game has played really well.
Light bulb went off for the Texas offense in the Locker room. 3rd qtr offense was great, now lead 20-10. That TD to the back of the endzone though was an over throw pulled down by the WR who just went up and got it and saved his QB.
Poor Purdue. Lost 66-0 to Indiana last year in Bloomington. Now down 56-3 in the 4th at home. Cignetti is going scorched earth on the in state rival.
