Your mother was definitely heroic! I cannot even imagine enduring watching four quarters of football with white out conditions and high winds while wearing 1950’s winter clothing.

My parents were at the Snow Bowl. They had been married for 1 year and just moved to Ohio. They moved from Xichigan where they both went to college and they were married on campus in Ann Arbor. They remained huge fans of you-know-who their entire life, though my Dad always rooted for OSU in other games. When Bo's boys dominated Woody's in 1976 I was attending OSU. Susie and I walked back to our apartment from the Shoe and the phone rang. (The days of land lines and collect calls)...the operator asked if I would accept a collect call from Maisy Blue...I knew it was Mom and I said "Hell No!" and hung up.

    Back to this week!

Longhorns get back to playing teams in it's weight class with a trip to the Swamp. Gators bound to be playing fast and loose with nothing to lose. Longhorns desperately need to win and look good doing it on the road.

Surprise of the weekend to me that Gameday will be in Tuscaloosa for the Vanderbilt/Alabama game. I'm betting the the Tide will roll Vandy. If they aren't ready for this game after last year, i don't know what to say.

Texas Tech vs Houston. Big game for the B12, both are undefeated and Tech has the higher priced roster so we'll see what happens.

Miami @ FSU First big road game for the Hurricanes, actually first road game of the season. FSU has to be stinging from last week's upset by UVA. Huge game for both teams.

Surprisingly good Miss State team goes to College Station to face the Top 5 undefeated Aggies. Can A&M handle success?

Not surprised at all that these conversations are happening but fail to see the benefits for the conferences. Just not sure what the PE firms bring to the table for the conference at large. Sure they bring capital but little else and by and large that is only a material benefit to the have-nots, hence the hesitancy on the part of the big boys and discussion surrounding "tiered benefits". I know Rutgers is struggling to keep up and Maryland has a big hole to fill and Penn State is spending $700 million on a stadium renovation. Not sure about the others but surely the less well-funded programs would be happy to see a big chunk of change upfront to help them regain their footing post-covid. My guess is that this will accelerate the "super conference" discussions....we shall see

Have to agree with Kiffin on this, the game has changed and the parity in the SEC is here to stay.

He said SEC programs will no longer be able to stockpile talent as former Alabama coach Nick Saban did while winning six national championships from 2007 to 2023 and Georgia coach Kirby Smart did when capturing back-to-back CFP national titles at his alma mater in 2021 and 2022.

"In my opinion, the dynasties are over," Kiffin told ESPN on Wednesday. "Alabama with Coach Saban and then Kirby at Georgia, where they had those rosters year in, year out and there would be a bunch of wins by 30 points in the conference, those days are done."

We'll see today if Vandy is for real. Pavia is the type of quarterback that historically gives Alabama trouble. Alabama is coming off of a big win against Georgia and Vanderbilt is undefeated. Alabama's passing game has been very affective but our running game has not. Can we contain a running, scrambling qb. We'll see.

Watching Coach Saban on Gameday today in Tuscaloosa it seems as if he's looking for payback. This is the kind of game back in the day he'd put the hammer down and win by 50. Now this is a much, much better Vandy team than was typical in years past but I wouldn't be surprised if they took Vandy to the wood shed today and the young QB and freaky WR feast

Alabama’s qb has only started a few games but he has been around for a long time…not as as long as Pavia, but he is a redshirt junior.

I saw somewhere that Johnny Manziel will be on the Vandy sideline, not sure why as he's an Aggie.

Cincinnati taking it to a good (but injury-depleted) Iowa State team.

B12 is going to be a dogfight, a lot of parity in the league.

Watching Navy/Air Force, both of these teams now throw the ball much more than in the past. Still have the run game but no more exclusive triple option offense.

Air Force/Navy has turned into anything but a service academy type of game. Both teams have thrown for more than 200 yds and several long passes. 31-31 mid 4th qtr.

Hard to imagine that UCLA is winning, much less winning big.

Vanderbilt and Alabama tied at the half 14-14.

Maybe this is going to be one of those weekends.

    Understatement of the year.

I see PSU has decided to play football and it's 27-21 UCLA....PSU will win going away
