Yikes…Hoosiers are curb stomping #9 Illinois 35-10 at the half. A Beilema coached Wisconsin put 82 points on the Hoosiers a few years ago so I suspect the Hoosier fans are enjoying watching Cignetti putting the belt to ass on Bret.
63-10 for the Hoosiers. The thing that really impresses me is how well they execute offensively. Precise ball fakes, full effort, no sloppiness, cleaver play calls. It is clear that their coaching staff are teachers and emphasize players executing every detail well.
Bobda, IU is undergoing an experience few traditionally mediocre programs ever get to see. I remember taking my family to the kids' first IU game (my wife Judy was an alum) sometime back in the early 80s when there were almost as many people at the tailgates as in the stadium for the second half. I think we were playing Illinois and getting killed. We had perfect seats on the 50. By the third quarter they all wanted to leave and go to the campus bookstore. I said no. Last night the stands remained full until the end. Cignetti has judiciously mixed the portal with better recruiting to build - in record time - a highly competitive program. It's possible Illinois was grossly overrated at season's outset. We'll see as the season progresses. One thing is certain. IU no longer is the Big 10's doormat.
Wow...did not expect that at all. I saw them several times last year and it was clear to me that they were legit and that the man could flat coach. I did however believe he had caught lightning in a bottle and a repeat of that success was highly unlikely. Almost complete roster turnover and they did that to a team returning alot of production from last year and highly regarded by many, myself included. What was most surprising was that they completely dominated the game physically against a team that typically defines itself by their physicality. Say what you want about Bielema but his teams have been known for tough, physical football for decades. IU had + 300 yards rushing -v- Illinois with 2 and they dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage. Very disciplined, physical and well-coached team that executed at a high level. Pretty clear that Cignetti is an excellent coach with the ability to evaluate talent, develop players, teach and motivate at a high level. Damn glad we don't play 'em! Biggest takeaway is that IU was wise to sign him to a big extension last year because there are a whole lot of AD's getting phone calls from big donors anxious to have him on their sideline.
Not much change in the AP top 10. Top 7 are the same, but Illinois plummeted out after the IU beat down and the Aggies, FSU and OU move up a slot to replace them.
Was not aware of this rule. An SEC officiating crew failed to identify a "hideout tactic" on Oklahoma's second-quarter touchdown in the 11th-ranked Sooners' Week 4 win over No. 22 Auburn, the conference announced late Saturday night. Oklahoma led 10-3 after quarterback John Mateer connected with Isaiah Sategna for a 24-yard touchdown with 10:45 remaining in the first half Saturday. Before the snap, Sategna had walked toward the Sooners' sideline appearing to feign a substitution, but he remained on the field before streaking down the sideline through the Tigers' secondary undetected for the scoring reception.
