Oklahoma State looked shell shocked vs Tulsa last night. Boom Pickens Stadium will never be the same.
I'm rooting for the kid. Giving MattyP an entire off-season to prepare a system of wicked coverage and disguises in his first real road start against a legit defense was almost unfair and likely has the kid still seeing ghosts. Almost seems like he has a classic case of the yips but he's got a great mentor in Sark and I'm betting he can help the young man regain his footing. Hopefully he can just let 'er rip vs Sam Houston and regain some confidence before conference play.
I can’t help but think of Ron Powlus, who before ever setting foot on the ND campus, was ordained a two-time Heisman winner by the late Beano Cook. He was a very good QB but never rose to the Heisman level. Arch is different except for the unrealistic expectations. He’ll be fine, but gosh darn, back off and give him time. His Uncle Peyton, who was pretty darn good in college and is one of the all-time NFL greats, didn’t win a Heisman.
At the moment, Syracuse is running over Clemson. 24-7 Former Irish QB, Steve Angeli, looks very good and Syracuse running game is outstanding. Of course long way to go as it's mid 2nd qtr.
Woah….Maryland is up 20-0 at Camp Randall at the half. Amazing how both programs at Oklahoma State and Wisconsin have cratered.
I'm just surprised that Luke Fickell is not succeeding at Wisconsin. Is he likely to be fired unless he gets it turned around quickly? I wonder what went wrong for him, I really thought he was a young coach on the rise. Lot's of ND fans wanted him when Kelly bailed for LSU.
I am puzzled as well Terry, they are losing to Maryland this afternopn and he may well be fired before the day is over. A very sad siutuation all the way around!
ACC changing it's scheduling format. Going to requier 10 games v power 4 teams. The question is will they go to a 9 game conference schedule. f The ACC is closing in on a change to its scheduling format that will require all league teams to play at least 10 games against Power 4 competition, though the number of intraconference games played -- eight or nine -- remains a sticking point, according to multiple sources. Athletic directors are scheduled to meet Monday in Charlotte to discuss the details of what will either be a move to a nine-game conference slate with one additional Power 4 game required out of conference or an "8+2" model that will provide more flexibility to schools that already have an annual nonconference rival. This article from Badger Wire seems to say that unless he win's 8 games he's in big time trouble. Also that his buyout of 25M is a problem for the Badgers. Analyzing if Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell is on the hot seat
Texas Tech gets a big road win over Utah, and they did it with true freshman backup QB in the 2nd half and that kid looked like a AA. They kept showing the wife of one of the Tech defensive players, who made a INT late. She's a West Point Grad and apparently pilots Blackhawks, she's got quite the full sleeve tatoo on her left arm. Not my taste, but I appreciate her service.
His buyout is probably the only thing keeping him employed but there more than a few rich Cheesehead boosters. I suspect the AD is the deep waters also.
Arkansas loses to Memphis, they were in chip shot FG range to win it but ran one more play and fumbled the ball...game over and Memphis gets the big upset win.
Clemson loses to Syracuse and sits at 1-3. 'Cuse QB Steve Angeli was injured and they had to finish with his backup who is a transfer from LSU. He finished them off. Correction it's still 2 minutes to go but Clemson is going to lose as they are 2 scores down and I don't see a miracle finish to save Dabo.
Big road victory for Michigan at Nebraska, 30-27. Michigan gashed NU on the ground with over 200 yards rushing and sacked Riola 7 times. This team can contend in the B10.
Longhorns up 14-0 and speaking of streaming, you have to have the ESPN App to watch this game. I miss the Longhorn Network!!
