Interesting. I see where the College Football Playoff Committee is going to use "enhanced metrics" to evaluate the SOS and quality of wins and losses as part of the ranking process.

Ha! I agree there are still going to be a lot of arguments, but anything beats just taking the teams with the fewest losses.

SEC has gone to a 9 game conference schedule which was a sticking point in the negotiations over the CFP going forward with the Big 10 already at 9.

The SEC will play a nine-game conference schedule starting in 2026, the league said Thursday, a historic move it's been considering for years.

The decision was approved by the SEC's presidents and chancellors after a recommendation by the athletic directors in the conference.

"Adding a ninth SEC game underscores our universities' commitment to delivering the most competitive football schedule in the nation," SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in a news release. "This format protects rivalries, increases competitive balance, and paired with our requirement to play an additional Power opponent, ensures SEC teams are well prepared to compete and succeed in the College Football Playoff."

This will take some restraint by the fans (mostly drunk) to pause 3 minutes.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas will allow football fans to rush the field following big wins, but only after a delay so the Razorbacks can avoid hefty fines.

The Southeastern Conference's updated field rushing policy, with $500,000 fines, applies to each incident across all sports. The conference can waive the fine if the visiting team and officials are allowed to reach the locker room before fans descend.

Arkansas announced Wednesday that three minutes will be placed on the videoboards inside the stadium to delay the rush and allow the visiting team, staff and officials to exit the field.

Northwestern settled the wrongful termination lawsuit filed by Pat Fitzgerald and based on the post lawsuit statement issued by NW, I have 2 thoughts. 1. NW paid a lot of money to Fitzgerald. 2. When the hazing story broke, NW made Fitzgerald the sacrificial lamb because it believed doing that would improve the university’s public reputation.

No winners here, glad to the situation resolved. I always like Coach Fitzgerald and Northwestern was dragged through the melee as well. Sad way for both parties!

SEC teams will have 3 permanent conference opponents. I assume that Alabama's will be Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU. I'm not sure who Oklahoma and Texas will have other than each other. I really envy whoever gets Vandy, Missouri, Ole Miss.

Longhorns will no doubt will have A&M, and I won't be shocked if it's Arkansas for the 3rd permanent rivalry.
