I've heard it said that college football needs Notre Dame to be good. I always have believed that college baseball needs Arizona to be good. I'm glad to see them back in Omaha. Understandably to those who know me, I don't feel the same about USC baseball.
I've picked the Cats to be the team I'll pull for this year. Quite a mixed bag of teams... with only 3 of the National seeds making it to Omaha it should be fun. Hopefully the games are as good as last year when almost all the games were tight and well fought.
My best friend here in Indy is a Murray State alum, so I followed their games in Oxford and at Duke. They're for real. Located in far SW Kentucky. Once called the Thoroughbreds. Changed to the Racers (for horses, not cars).
I miss the Pac-10 days. In football, each team played every other team in the conference each season. In basketball, each team played every other team in the conference each season home and away, and your road travelling partner was your rival. In baseball Arizona had the 6-Pac (UA, ASSU, UCLA, USC, Cal, Furd) and the level of conference competition paid off in the post-season.
I'm not real confident Arizona will emerge from its pod; I'm expecting OSU or Coastal. If we don't advance I'm hoping it's Beavis, because we lost the CWS final game to the Chanticleers in 2016. Bear Down
Coastal plays good ball, but I don't like them either. Arizona had two costly defensive mistakes against them, to their credit one induced. Must win today.
