Last night's win evens the mens BB record at 10-10. More important, it was a come-from-behind win. Some growth?
Apparently somebody doesn't think there is any growth! You have to wonder how the sender got the Coaches Cell #
Chris Ash is the new DCoord, and it's reported that Mickens will stay. Whether it's as C0-DCoord or not nobody yet knows.

Chris Ash new Defensive Coach for the Irish to replace Golden? Notre Dame expected to hire ex-Rutgers coach Chris Ash as replacement for Al Golden at defensive coordinator
Bears are reportedly are interested in Joe Rudolph our OL coach. I hope he stays of course, and speaking of the OL we picked up a nice OL for f2026. Tim will be happy. BREAKING - The Notre Dame class of 2026 grew in size today, numerically and literally, as Composite Top 100 offensive lineman Tyler Merrill made his public commitment to Notre Dame. The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder out of Cumberland Valley (PA) chose the Irish from a Top 5 group that also included Alabama, Clemson, Penn State, and Wisconsin. The local Nittany Lions had long been considered the primary competitors for the Fighting Irish in this race.
Another good road win for the Irish women. Tough first half that we didn't get he lead till late in the 2nd qtr, but came out in the 2nd half and took control and won by 16. Hannah had 30. It was quite the chippy game though with one Va.Tech player fouling out on a Technical. Huge road game at Louisville coming up on Sunday, the Cards and the Irish have had some epic battles and winning at Louisville has been tough. Louisville coach Jeff Walz is a pain in the butt on the sidelines, not quite as bad as Bayou Barbie at LSU but close.
irish presence is key to the new ESPN/ACC contract extension. This could give our schedule rating a boost and help the ACC package ratings Of course it will also make our schedule more difficult, which is needed to give us a bit more respect from teh playoff committee. According to Yahoo Sports senior college football reporter Ross Dellenger, Atlantic Coast Conference executives are working to ratify an television contract extension with ESPN until 2036. The current deal expires in 2027. As part of the potential deal, Notre Dame is expected to play the conference's three premier programs — Clemson, Miami and Florida State — more frequently. The Fighting Irish would reportedly face "at the very least" two of those three opponents each season. The deals would also "pave the way" for the ACC to finalize a settlement to keep Clemson and Florida State in the conference after both filed lawsuits to leave last year.
Personally, I think Notre Dame is moving in the wrong direction. Making your schedule more difficult will not help. They did just fine this year. Completely joining the conference would help because winning the conference championship game would guarantee a place in the playoffs, participating in the conference championship game would probably get you a place in the playoffs, but absent that you need to have fewer losses than anyone else.
Kp, I can't read the minds of the ND decision makers, but history shows that they are willing to accept the challenge of a reasonably tough schedule by way of who they schedule in advance, in addition to "permanent" rivals like Navy, Stanford, and USC. If you look at their schedules and go back 4, 5, even 7 years, you'll see that at the time the opponents were scheduled, they were higher-ranked programs than when the games are played. One team that immediately comes to mind is FSU but there are others. This happens to other teams. They try to put together reasonably challenging schedules only to have future opponents' programs become weaker by the time they play. Bottom line: ND chooses to remain independent and play their way into the rankings/playoffs. It didn't hurt this past season. We earned our way to the final game and, in the end, competed well.
You maybe right, but the fan base in general wants a more difficult schedule. Not an impossible schedule, say only top 25 teams, but there has been griping about the schedules in recent years. Many hate having to play 5 ACC teams every year. We shall see what happens going forward.
Sid, that’s what I said. Y’all did fine last season. I am just saying that increasing your strength of schedule does nothing for you as far as getting into the playoffs. The bottom line is how many losses you have.
Ok. I’m just saying you are taking the risks of being in a conference with none of the benefits (I.e. the conference championship game). If y’all are happy with it, then that’s great.
I completely agree. My reply to you was based on a defensive mindset toward those who think we should be in a conference. That's not what you were saying. As Emily Latella (Gilda Radner-years ago on SNL) would say, Never mind.
To me the key is can we lose a game or 2 and make the playoffs? We had 1 bad loss and made the playoffs, with a more difficult schedule can we have 2 losses? SMU had 2, ASU had 2, Texas had 2, Penn State had 2, Clemson had 3. Going unbeaten is just hard, only Oregon did it last year and in most years it's zero or 1 teams that are unbeaten in the regular season.
Clemson got an automatic bid for winning the ACCCG, SMU got a bid for being in the AACCG. ASU got in because they won the Big 12 CG. Texas got a bid for being in the SECCG. Penn St. got in for being in the Big 10 CG. Notre Dame doesn’t have those avenues available. But like I said, if this is way y’all want to go then that’s great. I’ve got a feeling that if you only lose 1 or maybe 2 games your SOS won’t matter.
Gut wrenching loss for the Irish men at Miami,l a team that was 0-10 in ACC play. We had a 13 point lead in the 2nd half and just collapsed after that. Maybe the worst loss of the season.
