‘One more, then forever’: Jack Sawyer depicts his Ohio State football journey in an essay

Sawyer shared how Day had to remove his kids from school after one of the last four losses against Michigan. Classmates and even teachers were giving Day’s kids a hard time, suggesting they needed to leave town.

“Hearing that made us so angry,” Sawyer wrote. “But I also think a reason that stuff has been able to happen, it’s because of how high Coach’s character is. He refuses to hang his players out to dry. In the good times, he wants the spotlight on us. In the bad times, he wants the spotlight on himself.

“And it’s definitely unacceptable, the amount of toxic bull---- he’s had to deal with over the years. But if you’re wondering why his players play so damn hard for him — well, there you go.”

Ohio State Preparing to Match Physicality of the ”Toughest Team in College Football,” Notre Dame, in CFP National Championship Game | Eleven Warriors

Per OSU RT Josh Fryar, when asked to reflect on the season offers that "We look adversity in the eye and just say "F you" we're just gonna do it" Also calls the ND defensive front the toughest in college football.

Ohio State Has High Respect for Notre Dame Quarterback Riley Leonard, Whose Running Ability Makes Him Dangerous | Eleven Warriors

Buckeyes offering alot of high praise for Riley Leonard as well. Didn't know he and Will Howard were roommates this summer at a QB camp.

Don't where that "Toughest Team........." label came from. I wish it would go away.

I'd take it as a compliment...right or wrong I'd say it's coming from those who think you're playing tougher and beating teams that (maybe) on paper have a few more NFL type athletic players. I can't speak to that, but I'd still say it's a compliment, especially if there is a basis for truth.

As soon as you go to a playoff scenario it's inevitable that the winner will not necessarily be the team who had the best regular season.

It's the team that finishes the season on a roll, usually. In the distant past Oregon would have won the Natty.

And I think this season has been incredible.

I don't know about you guys but I'm pretty much worn out by the media around this game. I can't watch another "hype" video, read another feel good story about this player or that player. I'm just ready for the game to be played.:rolleyes:o_O

Oh I do, Stu. My concern is that it’s locker room material for the opponent. I like the article (although I haven’t read it yet) referring to either team that wins as a deserving champion.

    OK, 2 things.

    1. The Sunbelt fined Marshall for opting out of the bowl game.

The Sun Belt Conference announced Friday it fined Marshall $100,000 for opting out of the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl last month even though the Thundering Herd's roster had been depleted to 41 players after coach Charles Huff's exit to Southern Miss and as many as 36 players entering the transfer portal.

Marshall athletic director Christian Spears told reporters Friday that the university accepted the fine and would move forward, but he made it clear that the well-being of the players was paramount in the decision not to play in the bowl game against American Athletic Conference champion Army on Dec. 28.

    2. A Wisconsin CB, transferred to MIami and wasn't in the portal and the NCAA says he can still play right away.

The lawyer for Xavier Lucas says the ex-Wisconsin player is transferring to Miami, even though the cornerback's former school never entered his name into the portal.

Darren Heitner has been representing Lucas, who indicated on social media last month that Wisconsin was refusing to put his name in the portal and that it was hindering his ability to talk to other schools. Lucas had announced earlier in December that he planned to enter the portal.
The NCAA issued a statement Friday saying that "NCAA rules do not prevent a student-athlete from unenrolling from an institution, enrolling at a new institution and competing immediately."

Sorry to interrupt for a brief digression that's not worthy of a new topic. I'm shocked the Lions lost last night to Washington. To paraphrase the popular saying, On any given playoff Saturday........

I've never quite gotten the "Ohio against the world" mantra.

But Lebron as the narrator is cool. Just think if the rules were different and he had to play at least 1 year at Ohio State, what would that have meant to Buckeye Basketball?

I guess sometime soon the powers that be will meet and make or not make changes to the playoff format for next year.

Personally I would favor the following

    1. 16 teams
    2. No Byes
    3. Autobids to Conference Champion
    4. Seeding to be 1-16 no preference to the Conference Champions.
    5. Both 1st and 2nd round games to be played on the campus of the higher seeded team.
    6. Start the season 1 week earlier.

What about Conference Championship games, well sicne there are no longer any conferences with divisions then why play them. The Regular season record and any necessary tie breakers should determine the Conference Champion. But I acknowledge that there are $$$ reasons that they are played, and they have become a bit of a "new" tradition that will be hard for conferences to give up.

The above is no extra game for the players, the finalist's will have played 16 or 17 games depending on if they played in a conference championship game.

ND Hype, Kyle Hamilton was a great player at ND, and an All-Pro at Baltimore...but he's no Lebron!

Are they going to 16 teams next year? If you do autobids for champs and the committee continues to not “punish” teams who play conference championships then we essentially have 4 slots ( in a 12 team playoff) left for any other choices. Why not just go with the 12 teams with the fewest losses?
