This is the end of the regular season and it's been doozy. Upsets, the fall of the Tide, the rise of SMU, the Irish recovering from the horrible loss to NIU, Oregon dominating the Big 10 in it's first year. Who will make he playoffs.

The conventional wisdom has been 4 SEC, 4 Big 10 and 1 Group of 5 leaving 3 at large spots. There will be some weeping and gnashing of teeth from those who don't make it.

I think 4 from the Big 10 is pretty safe. But the SEC could be complicated. UGA is in the Championship game at 6-2. The winner of the Texas/A&M game is the opponent, but what is A&M loses? There could be 5 or 6 3 loss SEC teams scrambling for the 4th spot assuming Tenn takes care of Vanderbilt. If some how Vandy pulls the upset wow than it's everybody but Texas and Georgia with 3 losses. I'm sure there is a way to figure it out but the committee doesn't use tie breakers like the SEC would to determine who's where in the standings.

The Big 12 has 4 6-2 teams and all play this weekend and all could lose. So you have to assume that the B12 Champion is the only one getting in to the CFP

The ACC has 2 10-1 teams, and Clemson who is 9-2 and playing a very good South Carolina team. If both SMU and Miami win this weekend then will that mean the loser of the ACC title game will be in like they are in the Big 10 and the SEC?

If the Irish beat USC and finish at 11-1 we have to be in, but at whose expense?

North Carolina announced that Mack Brown will not be its head coach in 2025. Brown had a long, successful career and 1 national championship to his credit. Always came across as a decent and honorable man and I do not recall either Texas or North Carolina having any significant NCAA issues during his tenure with both schools. College football loses a quality representative.

He was a recruiting machine at Texas. It seemed like he should have won more with the level of recruiting success that he he.

Old Buttertooth (as we affectionately referred to him when in Austin) was a heck of a recruiter, but not so much of a great game day coach.
Best coaching he ever did was "Vince, look for a wide open WR. if you don't see one after 2 seconds RUN!" ;)

Talk about turning things around, Bill's Gators have plundered 3 guys from the FSU recruiting class this week and you can expect the Gators to have their way with FSU this weekend and end up in the Gator Bowl.

If they win the Bowl game, reportedly vs Duke, Billy Napier will have risen from the dead.

A breath of fresh air from an unlikely source when so many players opt out of bowl games...

Top Colorado NFL draft prospects QB Shedeur Sanders and WR/DB Travis Hunter are expected to play in a bowl game, coach Deion Sanders said Tuesday.

Hinting at the possibility the duo could follow the recent trend of sitting out a bowl game to protect against the possibility of injury ahead of the NFL draft, Sanders was asked if Friday's game at home against Oklahoma State could be the final time they suit up for Colorado.

"No, it's not the last time you're going to see them in a Buffs uniform," Sanders said. "These two and all the rest of the seniors have done a wonderful job of getting us to where we are, instilling so much expectation in our fan base and expectation in ourselves.

    One man's opinion.

The big game of the weekend takes place in the Hotel California of Southeast Texas as the Longhorns come to town for the first time in 13 seasons to resume their rivalry with their aspirational peer in Texas A&M. Make no mistake, these programs hate each other. This is the type of rivalry that makes college football so much damn fun. As for the game, if this one were in Austin I’d say that UT was 10-14 points better. That said, the Ag’s are a different animal in Kyle Field and it will be a loud and raucous environment. I think Texas wins (if Peyton Thorne can toss for damn near 400 yards what do you think Quinn Ewers will do?) but I think this one goes well into the 4th quarter with Texas putting it away late. Horns 34-21.

Regardless of the outcome, that's a nice analysis, Terry.

I watched some of the Wisconsin game, Bobda was right about them. Fickell will need to make a lot of changes.

Nebraska up 10-0 at Iowa. Iowa offense looks like the one coached by Brian Frentz.

More amazing is Ga. Tech beating Georgia between the Hedges 17-0 at the half.

Georgia started the season looking like the Brady era Patriots but now are impersonating the 2024 Chicago Bears.

Georgia claws back into the game but that ball on the end zone PI certainly looked like it was tipped.
