Auburn wins in the 4OT on one of the best catches of a two yard pass that I can recall. Thone’s pass was not a spiral but almost flying end over end.
I think more than anything, the portal has hurt the depth of top programs. Good players don't want to sit behind starters and move to where they can play. As the season goes by and injuries add up, teams that were dominant earlier in the season are struggling.
Arizona State and Iowa State are in the drivers seat for the B12 Championship game. Right now 4 teams are tied at 6-2. If they all win next Sat then it's ISU vs ASU.
Possibly, but in the case of ND, our depth via smart recruiting IMO has been one of the keys to our success this season. With the injuries we've had in the OL and among the DBs, in the past it would have hurt us badly. We've had a few solid additions via the portal - QB and WRs - but we're far from reliant on it, and we should be OK going forward without it or at least with very little use of it. We definitely are in "Next man up" mode.
Sid, our graduation rate shows how kids aim for a degree at ND. If they're not starting they have to decide whether or not playing somewhere else is more important than their degree at ND. We're fortunate many kids stay.
I think you're right, but it's just increased the parity of pretty much only the top (richer) programs. The portal lets kids transfer to play...but the NIL lets them go where they'll get paid.
From a poster on another board. Maine scored 14 points against OU, Alabama scored 3 (Maine also had more total yards in that game). DeBoer has already lost more games at Bama than his entire tenure at Washington. All this with the most 5-star recruits in the nation (17 total on the roster)
What the heck happened? This was not the same Bama team that we've seen the last several weeks. They looked to be coming on strong as the season progressed. I was shocked to be honest, gotta believe the Bama fans are to as well.
Not shocked. This was a replay of our performance at Vanderbilt earlier this his season. I had hoped we had overcome that inconsistency but we hadn’t. Oklahoma was able to run the ball at will and our offensive line could not protect the qb at all. Milroe had 3 interceptions, two were just bad throws and one of those was returned for a touchdown and the other was taken back into the red zone. It was just a case of Alabama not executing and Oklahoma having a decent game.
Mack Brown has said he's coming back in 2025, while Kyle Whittingham has said that he will decide after the season what he'll do.
Well just one day after Mack said he was coming back, his AD said hold on there Mack no you are not! It sort of reminds me of his tenure at Texas at the end. The fans wanted him gone, and he wasn't going to go finally he relented and retired. But he didn't want to retire. North Carolina announced Tuesday that Mack Brown will not return next season, one day after Brown declared his intentions to return to the Tar Heels. Athletic director Bubba Cunningham informed Brown of his decision on Tuesday. Brown, 73, will coach the team in the regular-season finale against NC State on Saturday, but a decision has not yet been made about whether he will coach the Tar Heels (6-5) in its bowl game.
