Some very important games this week, not many undefeated teams left and a lot of 1 loss teams who don't want to get that 2nd loss. We have 2 undefeateds going on Friday night Oregon travels to West Lafayette to take on Purdue. Unless there is a big big let down the Ducks should put a lot of points on the Boilermakers. Oklahoma State travels to the Mountains to play surprising undefeated BYU. BYU is on top of the B12, and Oklahoma State is at the bottom. Going to altitude sometimes is a problem, BYU should continue to be undefeated Saturday. 1. Texas vs Georgia Probably the biggest game in DKR-Memorial Stadium in quite a while, hotel rooms downtown are 1,000/night. But there is another event this weekend in Austin also driving things. It's the F1 Race which be run as well. Don't know who will win this game, Georgia really needs the win, a 2nd loss hurts them a lot while Texas getting that 1st loss isn't great but not a disqualifying loss. 2. Oregon @ Purdue 3. Penn State - Bye 4. Ohio State - Bye 5. Georgia @ Texas 6. Miami @ Louisville Should be a good game. The Cardinals are a good team and capable of pulling the upset, but then Cam Ward has been magic for the Hurricanes. 7. Alabama @ Tenn This should be a great game. The Vols have come down to earth a bit since the OU win and I think the Tide can pull this one out. But I don't expect it to be easy. Vol QB who was lights out early has come back to earth, if he can get going and the Vol defense plays well anything can happen. But I don't expect the exciting shootout like they had last time in Knoxville with Bryce Young and crowd. 8. LSU @ Arkansas Tigers are a talented offense and an improving defense, but I'm confident that Brian Kelly can still figure out how to lose in the Hills. Arkansas coming off a big upset of Tenn and a week off. Look out. 9. Iowa State vs UCF Who had the Cyclones at 6-0? Not me, but that's where they are, and UCF is at 3-3. UCF QB KJ Jefferson hasn't worked out like they thought he would, Matt Campbell always seems to get the most out of his 2 and 3 star recruits. But we've been getting upsets and it is on the road. I'm not confident ISU can win, but they should. 10.Clemson vs Virginia Clemson was left for dead after the beat down by Georgia but they've risen from the ashes and have played really well since then. Virginia has played better than most thought and Clemson can't go to sleep on them but at home in Clemson I believe Dabo's boys get it done. Other games Notre Dame @ Georgia Tech This one will be played in Mercedes Benz Stadium and some say the crowd is more likely to be a ND crowd. I'm not sure about that. But the Jackets are a solid team and the Irish are an improving team but not to the point that they can expect to get this win. They are going to have to go with purpose and beat them. Riley Leonard is going to have to continue his upward trend with the offense for the Irish to win. Texas A&M @ Mississippi State Road trips in the SEC are tough, but Mississippi State is 1-6, Aggies with a healthy Connor Weigman should prevail here and continue as the dark horse in the SEC race. Nebraska @ IU Both teams doing much better than pre-season predictions. It's an important game in the Big 10 with IU being undefeated and the Huskers with only 1 loss. Pitt vs Syracuse The Orange with former Buckeye Kyle McCord at QB are having an excellent season and the Panthers with a RS Freshman portal QB in Eli Holstein are undefeated. This should be a good game and again important in the ACC race. Michigan vs Illinois Jack Tuttles first start as a Wolverine, he's a better passer than either of the other guys and is one of those 7th year QB's. The Illini have been good but it Tuttle can get some passing game going for UM, they will be tough to beat at home. Edit : As Bobda pointed out the game is at Illinois not in the Big House Army vs East Carolina Black Knights having their best start in years, their offense has been upgraded to include throwing the ball, they will be a tough out for the Pirates. Navy vs Charlotte Middie like the Cadets have added an effective passing game and will be another tough out in Annapolis. Lots of other good games that are important in the conference standings. We have 10 top 25 undefeated teams left. How many will survive the weekend.
Come on fellas, Terry is working hard here and none of you are commenting on his hot take! (I can't... I'm even more uninformed now than I was when I paid attention!)
News of the week. 1. Hawaii joining the Mountain West, that gets them back to 8 members needed to get the conference designation from the NCAA. 2. NCAA has tweaked the rule that Oregon took advantage of by purposefully putting 12 men on the field to help run out the clock. Now besides the 5 yard penalty the offense gets all the time that ran off back.
The Michigan game is in Champaign. M’s offense looked competent for the first time all year when Tuttle became QB. The Indiana game will be the Hoosiers first real test. Rhule is a solid coach and he definitely upgraded the talent level in Nebraska.
This is an unbelievable weekend for sports in Austin. Besides the Texas/Georgia game there is also the only F1 race in the US just outside Austin. Both will have 100K+ fans in attendance. Good luck getting a hotel room!!
Stopped watching IU/Neb... as Bobda noted it's a rout. Watching Miami /Louisville and it's a great game.
Not watching but apparently quite the defensive game in Knoxville. Tide up 7-0. Illini up 13 - 7 on Michigan. Army won and it looks like the Middies will cruise as well.
I know Tenn has a good defense, but the part of the game I watched it just seemed like the Tide offense has regressed from the Georgia game. Tom and Cindy are happy for sure, Congrats to them
