As a long time M fan, I am more than familiar with the Hayes incident as it remains part of the rivalry’s folklore. True that Kirby did not thow a punch at a player and the Hayes incident was worse, but as I said before, he clearly shoved hard an opposing player he was looking at when he shoved him. Poor self control. When a person inadvertently bumps into another person, the normal response is not to shove them out of the way to get where you want to go.

Ok, the Hayes incident was magnitudes worse, but if that is what you want to hang your hat on ok. I’ll drop out now, I don’t want to be accused of being a dick.

Hanging my hat on what? I already indicated the two incidents are not comparable but if you think that the behavior below is not reflective of a coach who lost control and is totally fine, enjoy your reality.

Some movement in the top 10, but not really a lot.

Ole Miss was really punished for the OT loss though they fell to #18 Also both Army and Navy are ranked. Irish lost a spot as LSU jumped over them all the way to #8.

Doesn’t make much sense that Ole Miss falls that far. Alabama wasn’t punished that much and we lost to an unranked team. Also Notre Dame won big and lost a spot and Alabama squeaked by another unranked team and stayed at 7. It won’t for Bama I’m afraid. It’s just a matter of time.

First time since 1960 that Army and Navy both are in the top 25, back when they had 3 Heisman winners in a 7 year span 1958-1963 (Dawkins, Bellino, and Staubach).

While a lot of football is left to play, Army and Navy are as Sid pointed out having historic seasons. What makes them different this year is that they can throw the ball out of their triple option offense.

Back in the 70s, I thought the Triple Option put tremendous pressure on the cornerbacks if you added the 4th option- pass. Not many teams took advantage of that.
