Got a message from Don Ballard asking how we are with the storm so I will leave a report here. We are unbelievably lucky. We live on the west side of where the storm passed through and we literally have nothing happening. Did not lose power except for a coupe of blinks. No damage to our house or property. Headed to town right now and will know more about that later. But we are fine and sorry did not post before. Gator Bill
My sister has a place near Blowing Rock. While her home suffered only moderate flood damage, there are some neighborhoods in the area that are quite simply GONE. As in GONE....NADA. Indescribable force of nature and terrible tragedy. Area can be difficult enough to travel in the best of times, now with roads and bridges washed away, near impossible. Makes the relief effort very challenging
Thanks all, it is still kind of hard for me to believe how easy we got off in all of this. But we are certainly very thankful.
No problems here in the Villages. We didn't even lose power or internet. No flooding here either. Glad we missed the tornado outbreak.
I will report that Ralph had some close calls with the twisters last night but has come out without damage. He's got a Generac, so has power but no internet and phone is sketchy due to all the folks trying to use the system.
I have started using DuckDuckGo for a browser as it eliminates ads. Not using it for everything yet though.
I tried it as well Bill, but for extensive browsing, but I encountered problems with some of my secure passwords, finally just went back to Google and Chrome. I hope it works well for you.
Right now I am using both DuckDuckGo and Safari on my Apple laptop. Increasing DuckDuckGo a bit at a time.
