Buckeyes win on last shot of the game to upset MSU at East Lansing today. Unbelievable win for Ohio State without their primary scorer Battles out of action due to ankle injury. Ends their 17 game losing streak on the road to boot!
Big games tonight. Auburn @ Tennessee South Carolina @ A & M Louisville @ Duke... mainly because we don't know about Filipowski.
Big upset at Allen Field House, BYU out shot them from 3pt land and broke their 19 game home win streak. Houston beat Cincinnati at home in their 1st game as #1.
Ohio State lady buckeyes win over Michigan last night here in Columbus 67-51 to clinch the Big Ten Title. They will meet Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes Sunday in Iowa Sunday at 1:00 in the season finale for the second time this season.
OU ladies have had a very good year and it was in Norman. They also beat us in Austin. BTW Catlin got another record last night, she passed Lynette Woodard who held the AIAW before the NCAA took over Women's basketball. Next up is Pete Maravich. Probably in her next game, at home vs the Buckeyes! After that it would be Pearl Moore. Pearl Moore, who played at Francis Marion from 1975 to '79, is the AIAW small school/overall record holder at 3,884. Catlin is 230 points behind that, with the Big 10 tourney and the NCAA tourney it's with in her reach. Clark also broke the NCAA women's single-season 3-point record in Wednesday's game; she is now at 156 for this season, and 503 for her career. As a team, Iowa hit a Big Ten single-game record 22 3-pointers and had its 10th 100-point game of the season. The Hawkeyes are 25-4 overall and 14-3 (tied for second) in the Big Ten. Clark got the 17th triple-double of her career as well, adding 12 assists and 10 rebounds to her 33 points. She is second only to Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu, who had 26 triple-doubles from 2016 to '20. It was Clark's sixth triple-double of at least 30 points, the most in Division I history. Iowa has won every game in which Clark has had a triple-double.
Biggest game of the weekend....Buckeye ladies gonna have their hands full in Iowa City for Caitlin's final game at home. Should be good one
The big question for Catlin is whether or not to return to Iowa next year. It has to be a tough decision, she's accomplished virtually everything she could except win an NCAA Championship. For the guys it's always been an easy decision as the NBA money was the lure, but the WNBA money isn't that great and somebody like Clark probably makes as much money in NIL (State Farm for one) as WNBA pro's make. So money won't be a factor. Iowa is a very good team that's for sure, but they aren't undefeated like South Carolina and Ohio State might be the better bet to make the Final Four out of the Big 10.
Well that didn't take long...she must have read my post and said hey we've got to give TOK his anwer!
Ohio State managed to defeat the Cornhuskers here this evening 78-69 without their star guard. Battle scores 32 points and this team just never gives up all of a sudden with Jake Diebler at the reins.
Also her boyfriend, Connor McCaffrey son of Fran McCaffrey, was hired by the Pacers. Also she gets to play with the best young big and last years rookie of the year in Alyiah Boston. Seems like the right move for a lot of reasons Not to Also
This is transformative for Indianapolis sports. If its effect on me, an old man normally set in his ways, is any indication, the interest in our WNBA team will skyrocket. Welcome to Indianapolis, Catlin!
Dayton Flyers lose a close one to Loyola Chicago in Chicago. Two well disciplined teams but Loyala survives at home 77-72.
Great news for Indy. Their fans hit the jackpot for getting the opportunity to watch on a regular basis a true superstar.
Incident at the Texas / Texas Tech game. After a hard foul by the Longhorns, the refs went to the replay and decided it was a Falgrant 2 and ejected the player. While they were reviewing the Tech fans started throwing water bottles at the Longhorns bench that got them an administrative technical, which lead to more stuff being thrown, so much that the Tech coach had to go to the microphone and plead for an end to it. Texas coach, Rodney Terry, told the refs he was going to take his team to lockeroom if they couldn't get the crowd under control. Longhorns won 81 - 69. Won't likely ever go to Lubbutt again.
