I noticed about 5 Alabama guys at the WM Phoenix Open, none named Nick Dunlap. Nick finished dead last at Pebble. I wonder if he'll be in the field at L.A. next weekend. Tiger will be there!

I played the course twice...back before they built all the stands and it became the Stadium Hole. If I'm recalling it correctly, it did play a little short...being slightly downhill.

    Anyhow...here's an interesting compilation of it's development over the years;

How it started: Hole 16 at WM Phoenix Open - PGA TOUR

That's a cool video Stu! I might be making a trip there in the fall with my traveling golf group. Play TPC and Gray Hawk. But nothing has been decided for sure as yet, it's on the table though. Any suggestions?

I would definitely hit the TPC. We were there for a convention and stayed at Camelback Resort. We might have played the course at Camelback as well but I'm not sure. It was a long time ago.

We played the TPC white tees the first day and they seemed kind of short...so the second day we played the blue tees. But I look at the scorecard now and they seem plenty long so maybe they have moved them back.

Of course my game has devolved to the point where I was playing the forward tees before I had to give up the game (hopefully will get back).

Nice thing about losing all your distance is that those crooked pulls and pushes don't go as far and usually stay out of trouble. Bad thing is your short game becomes really important. I wish I had one.

Things getting out of hand in Phoenix...I'm shocked, given they seem to encourage rowdy behavior and drinking.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Even the famously no-holds-barred Phoenix Open has a limit on how much debauchery is allowed on a golf course.

The tournament, which is at TPC Scottsdale, stopped allowing fans onto the premises around 2 p.m. Saturday because it was too crowded. They also briefly stopped alcohol sales at several locations around the course, hoping to slow down the party.

It's the first time the Phoenix Open has had to, at least briefly, turn away ticket holders.

The huge crowds came to Scottsdale despite less than ideal weather conditions. It was raining and in the 40s for most of the morning before the sun peeked through the clouds and temperatures rose to the 50s.

"Due to larger than usual crowds, the WM Phoenix Open entrance gates are temporarily closed and shuttle service to the event is on hold," the tournament put on social media. "Shuttle service back to parking lots will remain running. Regularly check our channels for updates."

Well they didn't get the 3rd round finished of course so most of the players will have almost 30 holes to play tomorrow if they hope to get the tournament finished without having to come back on Monday.

Here's what I want to know, the players pus some sort of mark down where there ball is when they have to quit. But the staff is out all night mowing and doing stuff, esp to the greens. How do they make sure that the marks are put back in the "exact' same place as the player left them.

Canadian Nick Taylor has the lead at -13, Spieth is at -10 and Scottie has a 12 footer for birdie when he comes back tomorrow to go to -9

Articles like this are really sad to me. I am sure my aging process is partially to blame, but the Pro Golf is just not enjoyable to me anymore. My two cents but I feel better momentarily to have expressed myselfo_O

In many cases, I agree. The PGA tournament this weekend is a joke. I know that people make fun of "golf claps" and the announcers whispering but that is one of the things that make golf, golf. I read where Jon Rahm was also having trouble with all of the noise at the LIV tournament this weekend. The PGA needs to maintain its own identity and not try to outLIV, LIV.

Well the weather has finally settled down and the final round is in great weather and it's a very competitive round. Charley "Freakin' Hoffman is in the lead currently and Scottie, Nick Taylor, Sam Burns and Theegala are all right there...going to be a barn burner finish.

I got seperate bets on Sheffler, Burns and Theegala to win. Then I have Tails, Chiefs get ball, Chiefs score first (touchdown) Chiefs pass TD, and yes they'll show Swift in first 5 minutes.

Scheffler's putting woes have resurfaced, saw a 3 putt where he got the 360 salute and then missed a couple just a tad low. Hoffman -21 and Nick Taylor -18, Scottie -17

Nick Taylor birdies 18 3 times in a row, once to force the playoff, once on the 1st hole of the playoff and then for the win on the 2nd hole of the playoff.

2nd time Charlie Hoffman has lost a playoff at the WM Phoenix Open. 1st time was back when he had that ridiculous mullet. Lost it to a guy who was late 40's (Kenny Perry) back in 2009.

PGA Tour heads to L.A. Country Club for the Genesis L.A. Open and Tiger Woods first tournament of the season. I don't know if the rains/flooding in So.Cal impacts the course or not, but since nothing has been said I assume it's in tournament shape and just needs good weather!

The LPGA Tour hasn't had a tournament since the one in Bradenton Jan 25-28, and won't have their next one till they go to Thailand Feb 22 and then they spend almost a month in Asia. They just have a problem with getting sponsors for tournaments.

So Tiger is going to play at Riviera next weekend. I hope he gets his driving sorted out. Don't want him going off the road again.
