After earning a hard-fought 78-75 victory over No. 4 Marquette on Wednesday, No. 2 Purdue left Hawaii with the Maui Invitational title, a 6-0 overall record and an incredible historic streak. For Purdue, the win marks three in as many days over top-15 ranked opponents. Per OptaStats, Purdue is the second team in the last 40 years to topple three top-15 ranked teams in consecutive days, joining UConn in 2011. After beginning the season with blowout wins over Samford, Morehead State and Xavier, Purdue traveled to Hawaii, where they knocked off No. 11 Gonzaga by 10, 73-63 on Monday, before a 71-67 victory over No. 7 Tennessee the following day.
Buckeyes pick up a nice win in Florida this evening in the Emerald Coast Classic over Alabama 92-81. I believe this was Bama's first loss of the season. We will play the winner of the Santa Clara Oregon game in progress for the championship tomorrow.
Ohio State defeated Santa Clara this evening to win the Emerald Coast Classic championship 86-56. I have a feeling this team is going to be fun to watch this winter
SEC/ACC Challenge starts tonight. Lot's of great matchups. Duke is going to Arkansas A&M is going to UVA Tenn is going to UNC Miami is going to Kentucky lots more to boot.
Aggies without Henry Coleman and Boots Radford... We are going to have a hard time without those dudes.
Irish played So Carolina close and had the lead for awhile early 2nd half then the wheels came off and we couldn't buy a basket, even went 1-10 from the FT line. So.Car 65-53 Top 10 Miami the supposed best 3 point shooting team in the country is getting schooled by Kentucky down by more than 20 early 2nd half.
I'd forgotten that Chirs Beard ended up at Ole Miss after the fiasco at Texas with the drunken fight with his "significant" other. Ole Miss is 6-0, Beard can coach that's for sure.
Aggies are hanging tough with UVA on the road, even without those 2 players Scott mentioned. UNC is rolling over Tenn so far in the 1st half.
What looked like it was going to be a runaway in the Dean Dome, turned into quite a fight to the end but the Vols never could get over the hump and UNC put up 100! Vols could only manage 92! The Duke/Ark game has been a really good game so far, Hogs up by 1 at the half. Aggies ran out of gas at UVA. I see that Clemson beat a ranked Alabama team ACC has 6 wins vs the SEC so far. It's 6-4 right now ACC vs SEC. More games to come though
Wish we would have been at full strength, but at least the bench put up a fight. Hope to get some dudes back for the next game.
Buckeyes hammer Central Michigan last night 88-61 for win #7. Coach Holtmann subbed frequently and that should help down the road for a stronger bench and scoring. They are fun to watch this year, at least thus far
A somewhat strange but in today's climate not too surprising. A Louisville player, Ty-Laur Johnson, who is a freshman star, didn't play much in the last game. When asked after the game why, this was the response. When asked why Johnson played so little in the first half, Payne provided reporters with a bizarre reason. "You ready for this? I probably shouldn’t tell you this," Payne said. "We didn’t have the tights that he wanted, so he didn’t know if he wanted to play. "Oh ya. You heard it. We didn’t have the tights that he wanted, that we’ve never had for him, and he decided, ‘I don’t feel like I can go.’ That’s what young people do."
The #1 Carousel continues to rotate! Down goes Purdue. EVANSTON, Ill. -- Boo Buie scored seven of his 31 points in overtime to help Northwestern beat Zach Edey and No. 1 Purdue for the second straight season, winning 92-88 on Friday night in the Big Ten opener for each school. Buie also had nine assists and four rebounds, rallying Northwestern from an eight-point halftime deficit. Ty Berry also scored seven points in overtime and finished with 21, and Ryan Langborg added 20 points. The Wildcats (6-1, 1-0) became the seventh program since 2010-11 to beat a team ranked No. 1 in the AP poll in consecutive seasons. They topped the Boilermakers 64-58 on Feb. 12 for their first win against a No. 1 team.
One of those days in College basketball ...3 other ranked teams go down to unranked teams. 'Nova loses to Drexel Kentucky loses to UNC-Wilmington Duke loses to Ga.Tech ...who might be a better than unranked team given how they are playing.
Buckeyes trounce Miami Ohio 84-64 at home last night. six players in double digits, all stats pretty much in favor of Ohio State. We are now 8-1 for the season. Next up is Penn State Saturday on the road. Thus far we look pretty good and a lot of new faces. GO Bucks!
Keep it up Don, you make my SOS go up with every win! The Aggies got right against Depaul last night, blowing them out by 25. It was good to get Henry Coleman back out there, we missed him badly. Still missing our 2 guard, but hopefully he'll be back soon and have the Aggies at full strength going into the new year and SEC play.
