Wanted to get this one started for Terry... This week my boys get to travel down to that swampy hell-hole with the drunk fools jumping around...
I hope we can eventually get back to players moving on after their 5th year. Utah quarterback Cam Rising, who helped the Utes to consecutive Pac-12 titles before missing this season with a significant knee injury, is set to return to the team in 2024. Rising, who began his college career at Texas, announced Sunday on social media that he will play a seventh college season (sixth at Utah). He sustained a torn ACL against Penn State in the Rose Bowl after quarterbacking the Utes to a second straight Pac-12 title last fall.
Definitely going against the trend of long time rivalry's going by the wayside when teams change conferences. Neb/OU Texas/Texas A&M OU/Oklahoma State Kansas/Missouri Just to name a few. But the Apple Cup is different, in a good way. SEATTLE -- Washington and Washington State have agreed in principle to a five-year extension of the Apple Cup, ensuring the in-state rivalry will continue through at least 2028. The schools announced the agreement Sunday, six days before playing for the final time as both members of the Pac-12. There was uncertainty whether the rivalry game would continue, with Washington moving to the Big Ten starting next season and Washington State yet to find a permanent home for its athletic programs.
I think with the new SEC members a lot of old rivalries will not be played every year. I hope Alabama and Auburn can go on but I'm afraid our games with Tennessee and LSU are not going to be annual meetings. To me, this expansion is not worth it.
JFYI The Portal opens Dec 4 and closes Jan 3rd. For guys going, it's best that they enter ASAP so they have the most amount of time to explore their options if they want to transfer and be at their new school for Spring Drills. So that is going to impact rosters for bowl games along with the usual opt outs to prepare for the NFL
I wonder if the Ohio State/Mich game is going to be a low scoring defensive battle, both teams have excellent defenses.
Huskers FB may have hit a rough patch of road after they fired Solich but their gals are kicking ass in the Big 10.
I think it is...I think the defenses are the strength of both teams. Rumor has it that X is banged up on the OL and appeared to struggle protecting their QB against PSU until they completely abandoned the passing game and ran the ball 32 consecutive times and didn't throw a pass in the 2nd half as the PSU offense was so impotent, there was no threat of them scoring and they just chewed clock. I don't believe they're gonna be able to do that this week. Our weaknesses on offense are upfront in the middle, C/OG which unfortunately faces the strength of the man-eaters along the X front, their DT's are monsters. They also have very talented secondary and they'll try to take away MHJr, but I do think they'll have to give us the underneath middle with Egbuka and Stover and Henderson is a home run waiting to happen. I think both defenses are comparable, I think our offense is a tad bit more explosive than theirs. I expect a battle... Now time for the dirty little secret......the wife and I head to Amsterdam on Saturday for a cruise down the Rhine River. So....say 12:15 kick, flight to Philly 1:10, arrive 2:38. Might be able to catch the 1st qtr in ILM and praying the 4th qtr in Philly. Things we do for marital bliss but it's gonna kill me
Thanks my friend, the wife has been nagging me to book this trip for years and I'm sure it will be nice, but in truth, my thoughts are much more focused on the game and the health of Kyle McCord and Tommy Eichenberger than floating down some stinking river in Euroland
My sister and her late husband did that exact trip, they had a great time. To me the best things about the River cruises, no rouge waves, no Hurricanes, no bad weather that endangers any thing and it looks to me that if something happens to cause you to abandon ship you can swim to shore!
Enjoy while you can. As my health goes downhill I’ve got a lot more time to watch football. Actually leaving for a cruise next week but probably just hobble around the ship and enjoy me some warm weather. Beach hikes and zip lining seem to be in my past.
It's Auburn game week. It looks like Alabama should roll but this is Auburn. I fully expect some wierd event to come into play, like Milroe throwing a long pass for the win and lightning striking the football in the air as time runs out. The War Tigers have some amazingly odd happenings during this game.
I sort of expect that the Tide is peaking at the right time and will beat them handily. Are you guys 100% healthy? The LSU / A&M game is interesting. Aggies might have stumbled into a good QB, and they have a great defense. Could be a shoot out.
