Good news for LSU fans. LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is probable for Saturday's home game against Florida and expected to pass concussion protocol, coach Brian Kelly said Thursday night. Daniels practiced Thursday after going through a non-contact workout Wednesday, Kelly said.
HaH! I guess they expect the Iowa defense to contribute to the scoring! Oddsmakers are going to new lows trying to get a gauge on defensive-minded Iowa. The over/under total on the Hawkeyes' home game Saturday against Rutgers dipped to a historic low this week at sportsbooks. As of late Thursday morning, the total sat at a consensus 28, the lowest of any college football game since at least 2000, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. Barring late line movement, Rutgers-Iowa will be the first game with an over/under total of less than 30 in ESPN's odds database.
Let the games begin.... Big Ten Conference Announces Violation of Sportsmanship Policy by University of Michigan Football Program
Less harsh than I anticipated but warranted under the circumstances although I am sure 95% of M fans do not share my opinion. Do note that the BT letter to Manuel does not foreclose additional penalties if further evidence of wrongdoing is uncovered.
A. So unnecessary B. Not sure that it will cripple M to any degree...and I guess that's ok. Mainly just embarrassing for JH. C. May even act as a motivator
Another 3 game suspension? And the suspension only applies on Saturdays? And Harbaugh didn't even know anything about it.
I wonder how the NCAA decided on this action so quickly but they haven't decided on the earlier infractions yet?
If you review BT’s link, this is a punishment instituted by the Big Ten, not the NCAA. Supposedly the NCAA is now “fast tracking” their investigation. Re Harbaugh’s knowledge, the link contained the following passage in the letter sent by the B10 to M’s AD: *********** "This not a sanction of Coach Harbaugh. It is a sanction against the University…We impose this disciplinary action even though the Conference has not yet received any information indicating that Head Football Coach Harbaugh was aware of the impermissible nature of the sign-stealing scheme.”
Ah i see that now, so the NCAA is still handling these infractions with due diligence, i guess, but Harbaugh is the only one suspended, correct?
Your second post said, “I wonder how the NCAA decided on this action“ so that is why I referred you back to Terry’s link. Re your second point, H’s is the only person impacted but the B10 states this is a punishment directed at the school and not a finding that H was aware of the in person scouting. Not sure how important personal knowledge is in the grand scheme as this plays out since the NCAA now presumes the HC is aware of the sins of subordinates.
I think this series of events is going to prove a bit of embarrassment for all parties concerned. I do not see anyway this can be resolved without doing more damage to the universities and Big Ten Conference.
It seems a precedent was set when Pat Fitzgerald claimed no knowledge of what went on at Northwesten but was held accountable as the head coach.
I do find it odd though that he was only banned from coaching on Saturday. Were those the terms of his previous suspension?
Don, our geniuses of the Board of Trustees actually discussed leaving the B10. So, a few years from now, will the words - “ what the hell have we done” - flow from their mouths when M visits Lubbock for a conference road game.
