Once again a misdiagnosis by Dr. Gip. He's been by far our most reliable receiver.

From what i'm reading Clemson still has a championship level defense and their problems have been mainly on offense. So I'm sort of expecting a low scoring game given our offense isn't really explosive inspite of the scoring numbers against USC and Pitt, those were boosted by special teams scores and turnovers that left us with a short field.

Will Shipley, a really good RB for them is in concussion protocol and is questionable for them this weekend. He was a much wanted player for ND but during Covid he couldn't visit and decided to go to Clemson. A lot of people think he's a sure fire NFL player. The QB, from Austin Texas, Cade Klubnik, has not been up to the level of DeShaun Watson or Trevor Lawrence and they don't have the scary WR's that they had in those years either. So I'm hopeful for a win, but we're going to have to play very well to get out of Clemson with the W.

The other ND football (soccer) teams have finished their seasons and had very good seasons. The Ladies are #2 seed in the ACC Tournament and play Clemson on Thursday night in the semifinal. The Men are the #1 seed and get a bye to the Quarterfinals.

Dabo putting out some Rat Poison.

In his last two games against Clemson, Hartman went 47-72 (65.3%) for 649 yards and seven scores compared to one interception.

That includes throwing six touchdowns in a 51-45 double-overtime loss last year.

That guy shouldn't be playing college football,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. “He's pro. He is smooth. Always. He's very confident. He doesn't flinch. And I've seen him for 10 years now. So I got a real good understanding of who he is and a lot of respect for him.”

Of course, Hartman is in a new offense at Notre Dame, so there’s little use in designing a game plan based on his past successes against Clemson.

Some positive stats I found on the boards.

    - Chris Tyree now has four receptions of 40+ yards this season. Tobias Merriweather has three. The entire Notre Dame offense had four in 2022.

    - Hartman is quietly averaging 9.3 yards per attempt and if he keeps it up, that would be a career-high. Jimmy Clausen, with Michael Floyd and Golden Tate, had a YPA of 8.8 in 2009. DeShone Kizer in 2015, with the best deep threat in college football to throw to, averaged 8.6.

    - ND is currently 10th in YPP and are in the top-15 in explosive passing plays per game (20+ yard receptions) with extremely young receivers.

Next Monday, Nov 6th, Irish basketball season opens. The men at home v Niagra and the women in Paris to play South Carolina. Women win or lose this game are likely to have a good season, be one of the better ACC teams and make the NCAA tournament. The men nobody knows, but most put us as the worst team in the ACC and no tournament for us.

Irish women lost to Clemson in the Semifinals of the ACC tournament. They had played them a week earlier in South Bend and got a solid win, they are a good squad ranked higher than the ND squad. It will affect our NCAA seeding for sure but we'll be in the tournament.

I didn't know that Notre Dame football is also broadcast in Spanish. But it certainly more exciting!

Mike, Sid who did you prefer for Notre Dame football radio ..Van Patrick or Tony Roberts?
As a youth Van Patrick was Notre Dame Radio, by the time he passed we no longer got ND football on radio in Houston so I never really got to hear Tony that much.

Terry, I really don’t remember Van Patrick. I wasn’t a ND fan until I went to my first game in 1961 as a HS senior, at which time I fell in love with the place. I really liked Tony Roberts. I’m easy to please when it comes radio play-by- play guys but Tony Roberts always stood out.

I remember Van Patrick more from the Lions broadcasts than the ND games. When Mary and i were dating he was doing the Det. broadcasts. I didn't listen to the games on radio often. I usually waited to watch Lindsey Nelson and his wild ass sport coats do the 1 hr. recap on Sun. mornings. "we move on to further action in the second quarter..."

Today will probably be my last chance to watch the Irish live this season. We leave next Fri. for what's going to be a lifetime adventure.

Flying to Dubai and boarding the Celebrity Edge. Stopping in India, Sri Lanka and Phuket Thailand and ending in Singapore. 3 days later boarding the Celebrity Solstice and stopping in Bangkok, Hue, Ho Chi Min City and Hanoi before ending in Hong Kong. Flying home through Seattle. Should be back for bowl season.

    Clemson up 24-9

I know everybody always says "Run the damn ball" but I sure wish we could pass the damn ball better.

For the most part Hartman has had time. Is no one open?

He just doesn't look great today, but WR getting open has been a problem all year against good teams with real defenses. Hartman isn't the QB we saw in the 1st few games. He seems tentative and unsure of where to go, sometimes holds the ball too long.

They keep talking about Clemson's beat up/patch work OL...but they are looking like the Joe Moore winners today.

I keep seeing Clemson hit slants, I keep seeing us never throwing a slant.
