Very nice win for the Horns. I thought I would watch the game and see how the teams looked for a while but when I saw the Texas defensive line could handle the bama O-line I just kept watching. Well deserved win Terry beating Alabama at their home. I thought the Alabama QB looked like a bigger/stronger version of Buchner.

Milroe reminded me of the early Vince Young, crazy good athlete with a strong arm but struggled with the basics of being a QB. I'm not sure Vince ever figured out how to be a great QB in the same sense as guys like Peyton Manning or Bryce Young or any of the other great college QB's. They just figured out a way to let Vince Young do the things he did better than anybody else and build the offense around that.

Can Tommy Rees figure out that out, I don't know. Unless Tyler Buckner has grown I'm not sure he's the answer as he is also a great athlete with a strong arm who might just be average at being a QB.

If you like pinpoint bombs and outstanding catches last nights game was for you. Props for the Horns playing with such great poise in a very unfriendly environment (it did sound like there were quite a few Texas fans there.) Surprisingly ineffective Tide O line.

Mini kerfuffle in Norman, Jeff Lebby's father-in-law is Art Briles, and apparently after the game vs SMU Briles came down on the field with the rest of the family to congratulate Lebby, be with him and celebrate. Well somebody got a picture of Briles in an OU T-Shirt on the field and it's a mini-storm.

Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione later issued a statement saying: "I was just as disappointed as many of our fans when I learned of the postgame situation tonight. It shouldn't have happened and it was my expectation it never would, based on boundaries we previously set. I've addressed it with the appropriate staff."

    Here's what Lebby said.

Lebby said Briles had attended the game with other family members and joined them on the field afterward.

"He's my father-in-law," Lebby said. "That's the grandfather to my two kids, so he was down with our entire family well after the game, but he was down there. ... He's with his entire family."

    Much ado about nothing.

Everybody in the top 10, except Alabama of course, won yesterday so there won't be much movement other than Texas up and Alabama down. ESPN's Power Rankings moved Texas up to #4 behind Georgia, FSU and Michigan. They dropped the Tide out of the top 10 to #11. I don't expect that to be the case in the AP or Coaches polls, Tide certainly will drop and Texas rise but I don't see Alabama out of the top 10.

Milroe is.also like a.young Jalen Hurts. Hurts learned how to become a.complete quarterback quickly. Milroe will have to learn quickly also. I don't think he has as.good of a receiver corps as.Hurts did.

It will all find its level. All of the other top 20 teams played unranked opponents. Sooner or later they will have to play some quality teams.

One Longhorn fan posted this on Facebook.

I am Texas Longhorn fan and over the years I’ve gone to several away games at various stadiums. Tonight I went to the Texas - Alabama game and I have to say that the Bama fans are the most polite group of fans of an opposing team that I’ve ever been around. Yes, of course, there were the drunken mouthy college kids but that’s to be expected at a college football game. Even after the loss they were so polite and they were congratulating us. It was quite crazy to me. I’ll admit that I’ve been to Texas games in Austin and our fans are not quite as polite, nor were the fans at any other venues I’ve been to. I was very impressed.
Thank you Tuscaloosa for being a great host and I hope to be back again soon!

Well after 2 weeks now we have good news and bad news from my boys in Columbus. First the good news.....the good news is they're 2-0 and still have the vast majority of the season to improve. The bad news....the bad news is that we're ranked 114 out of 133 teams in 3rd down conversions - that after playing Indiana and Youngstown State

Irish fans everywhere should be licking their chops.....

Not a good weekend for my secondary, but at least I got to hang out with my buddy Ralph (RECANE).
We attended the debacle in Miami together, and I have pictorial evidence that the old coot does exist.
(not sure I'm not the older looking coot, but anyway...)

I've never had the pleasure of meeting Ralph. I do expect to see Scott at the ND game next year, hoping he'll comp an old retired guy some good seats, beer and bbq!

Terry... if I still have tix we'll definitely see about getting together with you.
Seriously considering letting them go after this season.
College ball ain't what it once was, and even that 2024 home schedule might not be enough to keep me around.
I've got a ranch (house will be completed in a few months) that I need to whip into shape, and that'll be occupying most of my time going forward.
