GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida is altering its travel plans for the team's season opener at No. 14 Utah on Thursday night, hoping to avoid Tropical Storm Idalia.

A team spokesman said Monday that the Gators will fly to Dallas on Tuesday, practice and spend the night there, and then travel to Salt Lake City on Wednesday. Coach Billy Napier's team had initially planned to fly from Gainesville to Utah on Wednesday.

.....and we have winner in the Buckeye QB derby

Kyle McCord Will Be Ohio State’s Starting Quarterback at Indiana, Though Devin Brown Will Also Play

Considered the front runner by most, has an extra year of experience in the system, actually started a game when CJ was injured a year ago and of course it doesn't hurt to have been Harrison Jr's HS QB for a few years back in Philly. Prototypical drop back guy, thought to be the better thrower but without the same athleticism as Devin Brown though not an invalid by any means. Day has said both will play however...beginning the countdown until backup Brown is the fan's favorite in 10-9-8....

You (OSU fans) too? Although that's typically predictable ND fan behavior, I don't think it'll happen this season. Fingers crossed that Hartman stays healthy.

absolutely yes, in C'bus if you're not perfect, you suck. CJ Stroud was bum and should have been replaced by Kyle McCord not that long ago! You've got a good one in Hartman

Reminds me of something I heard from Lou Holtz. Don't know if he originated it: The most popular player on the field is the second-string QB.

Week 1 of course doesn't really have many meaningful games.

Big one is LSU and FSU on Sunday night. Both teams in the 1op 10. Finebaum has already said LSU is overrated and poised to be a disappointment to Tiger fans. FSU and Mike Norvell also need to avoid laying an egg they are back in the top 10, are they for real.

Fla going to Utah is big for Fla. No doubt Billy Napier needs to win this game. Question is will former 5 star Graham Mertz revive his career ala' Bo Nix at Oregon? Gators need that to happen For Utah it's also a question at QB, will Cam Rising be ready to go at 100%. The other big thing is the Gators leavng the state of Florida for a non-conference game....que Corey

West Virginia and Penn State Old rivals who haven't played much since PSU joined the Big 10. PSU has a new QB in Drew Allar who they are high on and a hot sophomore RB. W.Va. is a middle of the pack at best B12 team. Penn State is hoping this is the year they step up in the Big 10.

Colorado travels to Ft Worth to meet future B12 opponent in TCU. TCU is ranked not sure really how good they are and Colorado has had an almost 100% turnover in the roster due to Sanders telling the players to find a new home as he was going to bring in guys who want to win or something like that. So we'll see if his roster makeover works like it did for Mel Tucker at MSU a couple of years ago.

UNC travels to Columbia SC to play the Gamecocks. They bring a QB who everybody says will be a top 5 draft pick after this year and a coach who sometimes is bumfuzzled. South Carolina finished strong last year and have a QB who once was a lock for the Heisman and top 5 draft pick himself in Spencer Rattler. We'll see which QB gets off to a great start.

Rice plays Texas ...other than this is the 3rd different team that JF Daniels has faced Texas with, 1st as a USC freshman, then as a W.Va. QB last year and now as a 6th year player who was once he #1 rated QB and a 5 star and is now trying to play another year and hopefully impress NFL scouts. Quin Ewers is what JT Daniels once was, a hot shot QB who reclassified to get ot college early, and who so far has underperformed. Both need this to be a good game for them.

But why does Rice play Texas? Ask JFK

On September 12, 1962, a warm and sunny day, President Kennedy delivered his speech before a crowd of about 40,000 people, at Rice University's Rice Stadium. Many individuals in the crowd were Rice University students.[8][10] The middle portion of the speech has been widely quoted:

We set sail on this new sea because there is new knowledge to be gained, and new rights to be won, and they must be won and used for the progress of all people. For space science, like nuclear science and all technology, has no conscience of its own. Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on man, and only if the United States occupies a position of pre-eminence can we help decide whether this new ocean will be a sea of peace or a new terrifying theater of war. I do not say that we should or will go unprotected against the hostile misuse of space any more than we go unprotected against the hostile use of land or sea, but I do say that space can be explored and mastered without feeding the fires of war, without repeating the mistakes that man has made in extending his writ around this globe of ours. There is no strife, no prejudice, no national conflict in outer space as yet. Its hazards are hostile to us all. Its conquest deserves the best of all mankind, and its opportunity for peaceful cooperation may never come again. But why, some say, the Moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask, why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas? We choose to go to the Moon. We choose to go to the Moon... We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too.[11]

The joke referring to the Rice–Texas football rivalry was handwritten by Kennedy into the speech text,[10] and is the part of the speech remembered by sports fans.[12] Although the Rice–Texas rivalry was highly competitive at the time of Kennedy's speech, with Rice holding an 18-17-1 edge over Texas from 1930 to 1966,[13] Rice has only beaten Texas in 1965 and 1994 since Kennedy's speech.[14] Later in the speech Kennedy also made a joke about the Texas heat. The jokes elicited laughter from the audience. While these side comments may have diminished the rhetorical power of the speech, and do not resonate outside Texas, they stand as a reminder of the part Texas played in the space race.[15]

LSU is going to be missing its starting RB for undisclosed reasons and their top DL due to NCAA suspension.

We will see about their depth

Sad story. Arik Gilbert who I remember as a incredible freshman at LSU, who quit after 5 games and went home. Then he turns up at FL, but doesn't stay long and goes to UGA. But goes home reports were that he had mental health issues. He came back but never played much.

Now he's at Nebraska for another shot at realizing his enormous potential. But now he's in trouble having been caught in an attempted burglary. Might be the final straw.

Cade McNamara could be out for Iowa this, backup is transfer from Wisconsin who has never thrown a pass.

So typical Iowa offense, punt and hope the defense scores.

I see that Neb opens tonight at Minnesota. It's a big game for them as it's the first game of the Rhule era in Lincoln. Not sure what to expect from either team.

Yeah, Gilbert has everybody scratching their head.

It'll take me the first 2 possessions of NUs game tonight to predict the season.
