ooof...Lots of positives going on with ND Basketball since Shrewsberry was hired. He's breathed some fresh air into the program and he's been received very well by the fans for his vision and hard work in recruiting and building the program so far. Of course he's not coached a single game or win so as we all know good feelings are fleeting as losses pile up. That said somebody posted the percentage of returning scoring for ACC teams, of course if you have a lot of your team back then that should be high and is one predictor for potential success. But ND has virtually no returning players who actually played much...so our number is shockingly low. ACC returning scoring by percentage: Duke 81% Clemson 62.5% Miami 59.7% Georgia Tech 59.4% Boston College 59.3% Florida State 57.3% Virginia Tech 55.1% Syracuse 54.4% Wake Forest 53.8% North Carolina 45.4% NC State 41% Pitt 39.4% Louisville 37.8% Virginia 28.8% Notre Dame 1.5%
Secret scrimmage? I had no idea. Secret scrimmages in college basketball always are interesting affairs. Two Division I schools play each other before the season begins, but no fans or media are allowed. We now know Notre Dame will be taking part in at least one of these ahead of the 2023-24 season. Rick Broering of 247Sports is reporting that multiple sources have confirmed a secret scrimmage between the Irish and Xavier. Notre Dame will face Xavier in secret scrimmage before season
Last seasons games were difficult to watch at times. We should have been playing secret regular season games.
A lot is expected of Jordan Botelho this fall, but here is his biggest play of 2022. The guy who scored was also a guy much was expected of but he's transferred to Vanderbilt.
Big win for the Irish, not just because he's highly rated but he's also a west coast kid who chose us over USC and Ohio State. I know from what I read that Freeman made him a personal target for the class but still I wouldn't have bet that we'd come out on top for him. Now of course we have to keep him in the fold and close the deal in Dec. I don't believe for a moment that esp USC will stop recruiting him and coming up with a lot of NIL money.
On the women's basketball side two young Irish players had great summers. Cass Prosper and Hannah Hildago played in the U-19 World Cup. Cass for Canada and Hannah for the USA. Both had very good tournaments.
Tim didn't mention Logan Saldate a WR from California. Why, well he's not the homerun get that KVA was for the Irish. He's got speed but will need development as a WR. He's a 3 star and some where south of the top 100 at his position. Hope he pans out.
He was the #1 LB remaining on our board. Thought we had a good chance with him esp with Laurinaitis now in Columbus. Good get by Marcus
I didn’t mean to disregard Logan Saldate the WR from Caly but I really haven’t been on this or any boards lately as Im still kinda recovering from my recent surgery(getting old is no fun) but that kid looks good on film too.
Prister saying that it was truly for personal reasons and nothing is going to be coming forward like Northwestern. Also Johnny Lujack, truly one of the all time great players from any era, has passed away.
What Johnny Lujack accomplished at ND was just amazing, while others might have different opinions to me he's the greatest ND Football player ever.
