Watching the Senior Open. What a beautiful course at Sentry World in Wisconsin.

Lots of focus on Steve Stricker as a Wisconsin native. He's won a lot of Senior majors including one at Notre Dame's Warren Golf course that I have played with gipper many years ago.

I'm always impressed that Steve's wife is on the bag for him, and those pro bags aren't Ping Hoofers! When she's not on the bag his daughter takes it up.

Rickie is having another good tournament in Detroit. I hope he can get the win. It's going to be another scoring fest like last week. Probably will take something like 25 under to win.

On the Senior Tour Bernhard Langer is leading the Senior Open. If he can win it he'll be the oldest winner by far, he's 65. The oldest winner is Allen Doyle (who's he?) at 57 years 11 months. He won it at Praire Dunes in 2006.

One thing I am surprised at is that the greens are poa annua. I thought we only saw this on California courses.

I thought Midwest courses were Blue grass and Southern courses Bermuda.

Also I didn't know that Bernhard Langer was the first player ranked #1 in the World Golf rankings when they first started in 1986

Rickie Fowler has the lead going into today's round. Hopefully he can hold on and finally get that win.

Langer also is holding on to his lead in the Senior Open. He was the definition of steady yesterday, rarely going with driver and playing for position off the tee and making his par putts on the back nine. Not only will he be the oldest winner of the USGA Senior Open but he'll break his current tie with Hale Iriwin for the most wins on the Senior tour.

I don't know what Langer eats or what fitness regime he uses but the guy is amazing. He's really fought off aging. He probably could make a fortune endorsing some sort of energy drink.
As to Fowler, I really hope he keeps it together today. Kind of depressing watching these pros tear apart a course I've played at least 50 times. I'd bust my butt to break 80 and they're shooting lights out.

Well Langer did it, he did finish with 3 straight bogeys, but he had built a 6 shot lead, so he won by 2 over Steve Stricker. Jerry Kelly was 3rd.

I thought he was cooked when he hit his drive right into the crowd. But then he pulls off a great shot and then Hadwin hits a great shot but too much spin and ends up further away than Fowler. But I thought for sure Morikawa would stiff it, but hits it long into the salad long. That basically took him out and Hadwin makes a good effort but missed.

Rickie's putt was very makeable and he did.

I'm not sure why the coverage was not live yesterday. They arguably missed one of the most popular wins of the season. It seems like everyone wanted Fowler to win. I really hope he is as nice a guy as he seems to be on TV.

Storms were predicted for the Detroit area yesterday afternoon. First group went off about 6:30am. They tape delayed the broadcast.

I can see golf going to PPV to some degree to accommodate the thirst for bigger purses.

Big Tourney of the week is the US Womens Open at Pebble Beach. Should be a really good tourney, first time they are playing at Pebble, and watching the "Live from" on the Golf Channel you can definitely get the feeling about how special it is for the women and also how most of them have never played Pebble so they have a lot to learn about playing it.

Men are in another Birdie fest with the John Deere. I haven't looked at the field but it's usually not very strong with a lot of the top players already in the UK, many playing in Scotland or Ireland to prepare.

The girls are gonna have a challenge. I'd love to see inclement weather tossed in just to see the dismay on their face. Quite like my wife's look when I roll in from golf league.
