Not many surprises on opening weekend, other than #3 Tenn starting out 1-2 losing to Grand Canyon out in a tournament in Arizona. Most of the top 25 came out as expected - #15 Ok St is also 1-2.
Terry's boys didn't fare so well... losing all three games against the SEC.
Better get that recruiting going Terry... we play hard in the new league.
    ;)
As expected, the Aggies weren't tested by Seattle U, but we did lose starting RF Brett Minnich for a while with a broken thumb. All I had to do was mention staying healthy... and we get a veteran injured.
    :p

The Aggies drop game # four to Lamar last night. Sounds like we just didn't play real well.
I didn't see much about it, was intent on basketball.

Yikes... i was following the Aggies tonight from work and we were up 2-1 in the 7th. Schloss decided to pull the starter at which point things got busy so had to quit following.
    I come back and we're down 10-2!! Must've been a heck of a bullpen meltdown! :p

You may have noticed I let this subject fall down the page.
The Aggies have suffered from a nasty confluence of issues. We've had some injuries... never good.
The SEC schedulers certainly did us no favors by giving us LSU and Tennessee as our first two series.
The biggest issue is pitching. We've been unable to solidify any kind of certain rotation that's effective.
Until that happens, we'll be swimming at the bottom of the pond.

This kid probably didn't think this through. He's a Cross Country runner at A&M and is now suspended from the team and could end up being tossed permanently. Probably thought it would be cool and he'd be a viral media star!!

New details have emerged in the case of the recent baseball game streaker. The identity of the prankster has been revealed.

It turns out that the streaker was not only a Texas A&M student, but he was also a member of the Aggies’ athletic department.

A Tuesday night meeting between Texas and Texas A&M was interrupted midgame due to the antics of a crowd member. A man was seen running onto the field with a Star Wars mask, a sign, and a message across his chest.

The sign read, “Longhorns Suck,” while the writing on his chest appeared to say, “Trump 2024.”

Upon storming onto the diamond, the runner ditched the sign and dropped his trousers enough for the crowd to see his backside. He then rushed to center field where he hopped over the wall.

New Details Emerge As Baseball Game Streaker Is ID’d As Texas A&M Student Athlete

He'll be okay, he's a Trump supporter, and it's Texas. Of course he'll probably get a pardon too.;)

Who would've thought that ND would still be in the hunt playing in the ACC, while Florida State, with ND's HC from last year, is in danger of not making the post season AND possibly finishing with a losing record. FSU hasn't missed the post season in a while. I don't believe they've ever had a losing record. I know he's an FSU alum but good grief.

I think Jarrett took over a pretty depleted roster at FSU. He's a very good coach and will right that ship.

But I do think that the new ND coach is looking like he can get us competitive in the ACC.

Anybody have any pitching they can spare? The Aggies are finding it hard to outscore the opponent when they issue 14 walks in a game!!!!

Hey Corey did you see the big fight between 2 SoCal HS baseball teams that started in the post game handshake line when the lead guy in the winning team line brought a broom to sweep the plate, his team had swept the season series. The other guys took offense and off we went with a few parents even coming out of the stands!

Is this more egregious than the outlandish bat flip and stuff that usually ends up badly as well.

Color me surprised that there is much gambling activity on College Baseball.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission prohibited licensed sportsbooks in the state from taking any bets involving the Alabama Crimson Tide's college baseball games after suspicious wagering activity was flagged, according to a report from ESPN.

According to ESPN, Matthew T. Schuler, the executive director of the commission, issued the mandate on Monday, which becomes effective immediately.

The suspicious activity came during Alabama's eventual 8-6 loss Friday against No. 1 LSU.

Per ESPN, Schuler wrote in the order that U.S. Integrity, an independent firm based in Las Vegas that monitors wagering activity, issued an alert to sportsbooks involving the Friday game after it detected "suspicious wagering activity."

Alabama has relieved baseball coach Brad Bohannon of his duties.

Alabama baseball coach Brad Bohannon was fired Thursday, five days after suspicious wagering was detected on the Crimson Tide's game at LSU.

The school announced that athletic director Greg Byrne has "initiated the termination process" for Bohannon for "among other things, violating the standards, duties, and responsibilities expected of University employees."

The Aggies FINALLY got some pitching this weekend, and take 2 of 3 from the Gators with a rare "balk off" run.

I wish I thought that meant we'd turned a corner, but suspect it was only a brief respite.
Two series left in the season. Pretty sure we'll be playing in the tourney, but we'll be traveling this time.
    :p

It appears that the Tide coach did collude with another guy to throw the game by benching the Tide starter with some bogus injury and had his buddy place a big bet. It's also possible that if the injury was legit that they hid the information till they got the bet down. Probably thought nobody would even notice, I have to wonder if the guy had/has a gambling problem and owed some bad people and this wias how he got out of it.

Sportsbook surveillance video indicated that the person who placed the bets was communicating with Bohannon at the time, multiple sources with direct information about the investigation told ESPN.

The alleged suspicious activity took place Friday at the sportsbook at the Great American Ball Park, according to the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

The OCCC's investigation is centered on two bets on the Tigers to win from the same unidentified customer, multiple industry sources told ESPN. A source familiar with the investigation told ESPN's Pete Thamel that there's "no reason to believe any student-athletes are involved."

Alabama's scheduled starting pitcher, ace Luke Holman, was scratched before the LSU game because of back tightness and was replaced by sophomore Hagan Banks, who hadn't started since March 16. LSU won the game 8-6.

The OCCC was alerted to the alleged activity Friday by independent Las Vegas-based integrity firm U.S. Integrity, which works with the OCCC and the SEC to monitor the betting market. U.S. Integrity alerted to its clients Friday, and the OCCC halted betting on college baseball games involving Alabama. The SEC has contracted with U.S. Integrity since 2018 and has used the firm to monitor all conference events, including baseball.
