Pretty sure the conference tourneys are meaningless after what we saw last year. Only a team that was "out" winning an auto bid changes anything.
Absolutely thrilled for my Buckeyes and their win over MSU in the Big Ten Tournament this afternoon. Terry and Scott, Coach Holtmann will probably received at least a five year extension on his contract.
On the coaching carousel front, now that Patrick Ewing is out at Georgetown, rumors are that Mike Brey might be a candidate. He has ties to the DMV. No word yet on Ole Miss and Chris Beard. Also the Texas interim coach, Rodney Terry is still just that.
This on Texas/ Rodney Terry. The reality that everyone understands but doesn’t want to say out loud is that it would probably not be in Texas’ best interests to make Terry the permanent head coach. As well as he has handled everything since Beard’s self-immolation, there was already a large sample size on Terry as a head coach — and nothing about it suggests he would be a candidate for the job under normal circumstances. Texas faces awkward situation if Rodney Terry leads team to Final Four
Help me out. What is the DMV? I'm sure it's something obvious that will result in a DUH moment for me.
The Aggies start slow against Arkansas, but grind their way to a win in the 2nd half. I wonder if Lunardi has us "in " yet?
Don is a much happier and confident fan right now, that's what a few good wins do to us fans!! Glad to see things turn around for you and your Buckeyes Don!!! Oh and Happy Birthday!
Longhorns and KU for the B12 Championship. I caught the last part of the Maryland / IU game, IU looked very good.
Don, I'm glad to see OSU win a few games. Hope they lose to Purdue, but I hope Holtmann's job is secure. I've said here before that I'm a big fan of Holtmann because of how he kept Butler relevant after Brad Stevens left. He was named head coach in the second season after Stevens' exit (after one losing season under Brandon Miller) and took them to 3 NCAA tournaments before leaving for Ohio State.
Sid, I am confident Coach Holtmann's job is not in jeopardy, especially with the three wins in the Big Ten tournament. However our chances against Purdue this afternoon are out of reach, with Sensabaugh on the bench and we are physically worn out.
Never say never, Don. Stranger things have happened in conference tournaments. Although not having Sensabaugh does hurt.
I have no qualms with the manner we have played the first half. However, I do not believe we can continue with much hope in the second half with foul problems and fatigue.
No disappointments for me in this loss to Purdue in the Semi-finals of the tournament. I am proud of this young group whom played their hearts out. We simply could not defend Edey! Good luck to the Boilers in the big one!
Longhorns came out and blasted KU, beat them by 20 tonight. B12 Champions ! We beat them in Austi!n last weekend as well, 2-1 for the season. But KU will be the higher seed when the brackets come out. Makes a lot of sense
As I said... the conference tourneys have little bearing on the NCAA tournament anymore. Not sure why they even play them, other than habit. The Aggies will face the Tide in the SEC champ game. Won't change seeding for either team from what I hear. Would be nice to have the trophy tho.
