Good gracious Ohio State played with some real intensity here in Columbus this afternoon, defeating Iowa 93-77. There may be hope going forward after all?o_O

Both Kansas and Houston lost this weekend and that opens it up for Purdue to move back to #1

Purdue won by one point! Might be some great basketball come March?

    #2 is for losers. ;)

Actually most (all?) computer polls don't have Purdue on top. Sagarin has us at #5 (and the Tide at #2 :D)

Quite a game in Columbus on the womens side, Iowa's Catlin Clarke the best player in America lead the Hawkeyes in the upset over previously undefeated Ohio State.

No. 10 Iowa handed No. 2 Ohio State its first loss of the season, 83-72, on Monday night in Columbus, Ohio, leaving just two undefeated teams in Division I women's basketball.

Junior guard Caitlin Clark led the Hawkeyes with 28 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds for the eighth triple-double of her college career. Clark, who celebrated her 21st birthday on Sunday, has the third-most triple-doubles in Division I history, trailing Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu (26 from 2017 to 2020) and Lamar's Chastadie Barrs (nine from 2016 to 2019).

Clark's four triple-doubles with 25 points or more are the most in Division I history, according to ESPN Stats & Information data. She is also the only Division I player in the past 20 seasons to have four consecutive games of at least 20 points and 10 assists.

I watched the last quarter of the game. I was as impressed with her assists as with her dead-eye shooting. I also was impressed with Ohio State. It was a high-quality game, one where you're left disappointed that one team had to lose.

A terrible night for the Buckeyes at Illinois last night in Champaign, losing 69-60. Our inability to get the ball in the basket was critical. I am now thinking we probably will not make the tournament in March!

    Don,

I'd have sympathy for ya, but the last time NU made the dance, Bobby Knight was in good standing at IU.

I've stayed away from this topic... I seem to be a real jinx to my team.
Early on when it looked like the team was set to go I was here, and they fell on their faces.
Now... I think its safe to say Buzz has it figured out and the chemistry is finally working.
They played decent against Kentucky on the road, but a few let downs kept them from a chance at pulling the upset.
No such problem last night as they smoked Auburn to end the nations longest home winning streak. The Aggies are a bubble team right now thanks to the complete meltdown that occurred early on (sounds like last season!), but hopefully have righted the ship in time this year to get in.
Whether or not they make it, I enjoy watching... they hustle their butts off every game.

Here's a game to watch this weekend.

No. 10 Texas travels to Knoxville, Tenn. on Saturday to face former Longhorns head coach Rick Barnes and his No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers as part of the SEC-Big 12 Challenge. Texas topped the Volunteers in the Erwin Center last year 52-51 in Barnes’ return to the Forty Acres.

Yes I don't think anybody would have predicted that the Sooners would be blowing out Alabama today. Just one of those days when the basket looks as big as the ocean.

KU takes down Kentucky and the B12-SEC Challenge ends up 7-3 in the favor of the big 12. Tenn beating Texas, Miss State beating #11 TCU and Missouri beating #12 Iowa State were the only wins for the SEC. Big 12 is very strong this year.

That Aggies beat Vandy to go to 7-1 in conference.
We were spared a challenge game this year.
