After watching those kids in the Drive, Pitch, and Putt contest, I'm pretty sure that they don't tell us just to keep from depressing the old farts out there. Some of those 13 yr. old girls at Augusta blow it by 250 yds. I'm sure that the big girls hit it considerably farther.

To copy a quote from Bull Durham...."You hit the ball, you find the ball, you hit it again." How hard is that?

    (Pssssstttttt....AJ....it's incredibly hard....right buddy?)

Just out of curiosity I googled it and the longest driver currently on the LPGA tour is Mexico's Maria Fassi who averages just a tick below 280. Lexi Thompson who I thought might be the longest hitter averages 272. Brooke Henderson for all her John Dailey length to her swing tops out at around 267.

I imagine the reason they don't talk about it is to avoid comparisons to the PGA Tour Pros where Ms Fassi's 279 yds wouldn't get her into the top 200 for the PGA tour, and it would put her at #43 on the Champions Tour where Padraig Harrington puts it out there 308, he's the only one though over 300yds. Bernhard Langer averages 271.

I'm going to guess AJ can drive it with the best of the girls though!! :D

I'm guessing that Lake Nona is a pretty pricey neighborhood, right?

Went to an ND reception before ND played LSU in the Citrus Bowl at Lou's home a few years ago. He was at the door to greet attendees and took us on a tour of his home. Beautiful home.

We had this happen to a member of our group this past weekend. Par 3, he hit the green but was 40 or 50 feet from the pin. Left the pin in, why not from that distance, right? Well he hit the perfect putt it tracked right to the middle of the hole and hit the pin and bounced off to about a foot, without the pin it drops in for a birdie.

Glad to see Brooke Henderson get that win yesterday. Wire to Wire. Mardy Fish won the celeb event by a big margin, they use that Stableford system for scoring so you don't know what he shot for the 4 rounds, but just watching him play I'll bet he'd have been in contention.

One of my favorite tourneys. Torrey Pines is the last golf course I was able to walk for 18 holes. Asked for a golf cart ride to the hotel next door.

I wasn't playing much golf when I was in the Navy and living in Point Loma. I did play the base course which was a 9 hole course and Balboa Park along with occassionally playing the Navy complex I think it was called the Admiral Kidd. Never played Torrey Pines. The only time I was back after leaving the Navy was I spent 3 or 4 days at LaCosta and played there.
