I had a good weekend in Orlando...hung out with my son and grandson (and my buddy from LSU who came to watch the game with us.) Shot some Sporting Clays, went to a cigar bar, ate at a really nice restaurant. The only downer was the stupid game. I feel totally conned. All those folks who came down to see the Boilers play (had a pretty good turnout) and were promoted packages, hotel rooms, shuttle service, tailgate parties, etc. all at a "bargain" price. Yeah we'd have probably lost even if we had our coach and all our players but jeez, I expected to go to a football game, not Custer's Last Stand. At least my LSU buddy had a good time. And my grandson got some Purdue player signatures on his hat and some player's gloves they gave to the kids on their way out of the stadium...I was impressed that they paid attention to the kids even though they just got humiliated.

After month of uncertainty, Purdue season ends in disappointment

    Its my fault Stu.
The Aggies beat them like a step child in our "bowl" game, so they came in licking some old wounds.

This off-season is not going well.

Harbaugh, Michigan face allegations of NCAA rules violations over recruiting

The violations seem minor when compared to what went on at Arizona, Kansas, and NC and considering the firestorm of rumors floating around re rampant tampering and payments to players outside of the NIL framework but the Level 1 charge against Harbaugh is serious and seems to fall into the cover up is worse than the crime category. Also, given H’s prior statements of how the M program plays by the rules, the smell of hypocrisy is now floating around him.

I was actually rooting for Purdue in the game(amazing huh?) Didn’t think they would win as they’re starting QB opted out but didn’t think they would lose that badly. LSU and Kelly suck.

    Bobda,

you know I don’t have any love for Michigan or Harbaugh but I hope Michigan and he get out of this without damage. The NCAA needs to focus on things like cleaning up the transfer portal mess and other obviously more serious problems than this.

Thanks Tim. There is a bit of cracking down on shoplifting while murders and rapists run amuck to this story. But, H has not been shy to criticize others while proudly claiming the virtues of his program. So if the allegations prove to be true, the hypocrisy alone is pretty shameful.

Why do I think that cancel culture has something to do with this. Every since H came out and said he was "unabashedly pro life" I think he's had a target on his back. Michigan had an excellent play by play broadcaster Frank Beckman who was let go probably because of his political views. Getting rid of a coach who's gone to the playoffs two straight years but this might be just the magic bullet that they were looking for. Then of course, it could be coming from Ryan Day:)

Really good read on NIL, interview with a SoCal lawyer who has a ton of high profile 5 star/4 star players.

While Caspino has not revealed the name of his $8 million client, it’s widely believed Tennessee quarterback commitment Nico Iamaleava is the recruit with the deal. Caspino said when he first started working on the deal, he didn’t know it would become such a transformative moment in the NIL world.

But he started to understand when he reviewed the numbers – $350,000 immediately and a monthly payment that increases to more than $2 million per year once the recruit begins his college career – that it was a game-changer.

“At one point, obviously, when we got down to the numbers that we got to, it was, ‘Yeah, yeah,’” Caspino told On3. “It really hasn’t sunk in. I just keep working, that’s all. You just keep your head down and just keep doing the same thing. But it certainly has helped to set the market. Everybody knows what the market is in some respects.”

That market ranges by position, Caspino said. The going rate for five-star quarterbacks is $2 million per year. Defensive linemen, especially edge rushers, are getting seven-figure deals, and some highly talented offensive linemen and lock-down corners can command high six- or seven-figure deals.

I'm in shock! Never thought I'd see the day. It took playing against Brian Kelly to make it happen. I understand. :D

First of all let me apologize for not being around more. At my age I tend to lose track of time, as well as other things. :)

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

This whole NIL and Transfer Portal thing changes so much about College Football and not all for the better.

Gators got another recruit the last couple of days and it moved us up in 247 Composite to #11 which is the best we have done in recent years. We have 5 portal commits but not all are that highly ranked but are in areas of need of which we have many.

I think Georgia wins tomorrow night but they were very lucky getting by Ohio State.

What might be a factor here is that the NCAA apparently has Harbaugh in their sights for significant charges. Might be a catalyst to him going back to the no fun league.

    Thanks Tim.

I don't mean to be gone for so long but time flys sometimes.

We were in Florida for two weeks, a week for Christmas with one daughter and her family then a week I Jacksonville with another daughter and her family.

All Gators by the way. Both daughters, both son-in-laws and three grandchildren. Mostly engineers as a side note.

As to the Gators this is not a surprise. I believe a lot of them were encouraged to go. A complete change in philosophy from the Mullen years.

I don't expect the Gators will be challenging for the playoffs next season but I do expect that given time our new coach will get us back where we want to be.

Well Duggan was off and Bennett was not and an easy 7-0 lead for Georgia.
