    Freeman press conference :

    • Freeman: “If you’re coming here for NIL, it’s probably not going to be the best place for you.”

    • Freeman scoffs and smirks at the mention of “acquisition fees” in relation to NIL in a question from a reporter. “Acquisition fees? We don’t speak to that.”

    • Freeman: “We need guys to understand the magnitude of this place and what it will provide in the long run because you’re not always going to get that instant gratification.”

    • Freeman: “If you don’t learn from every kid who’s committed or decommitted, you’re losing a chance to grow.”

    • Freeman: “The guys we got, they understand the value of Notre Dame.”

    • Freeman on Drayk Bowen: “This is a Notre Dame kid, man. He’s going to be great.”

    • Freeman admits that Benjamin Morrison would not have been the first player from last year’s signing class who he would have picked to be a starter in 2022. Morrison is an example of selecting a talented player, signing him and letting him blossom.

    • Freeman says he’s going to let his coordinators “wrestle it out” to determine which side of the ball Brandyn Hillman will play. “He’s a football player. Get him into the program and figure it out.”

Irish pick up a Grad Transfer from VaTech for 2023. Kaleb Smith, he's a solid pickup for the Irish WR room.

Interesting that there is a true freshman in the the 2023 class with the same name.

The whole Peyton Bowen thing is just disgusting. It's one thing to decommit but come on, be better than that young man.

Crazy as it may seem, but apparently even though Bowen put on the Oregon hat, he hasn't sent in his LOI yet.

Doesn't surprised me at this point. Wouldn't touch him with a 10 ft pole at this point.

My finish: And you're not the right player for us. Good riddance.

He can put on a clown hat at this point. ND should pick his offer up off the table. This ship has sailed. Good luck, kid.

Big difference in this 2023 class is the number of 4* rated recruits. I don’t think we’ve seen this many in a long time.
We have some absolute difference makers in this class too.
I love the RB Jeremiyah Love. Big back that can do it all, and there are at least receivers that will playing immediately! Of course we landed one of the best TEs in the country.
We definitely got some offensive weapons and beefed up LBs and secondary too. If we missed on anything it’s DL.

    P. Bowen situation is just a total shi* show and not that I care much about Oregon but what Dante Moore did to them was crappy too. It’s Oregon so maybe it’s Karma for them though.

Lest anyone should think Freeman isn’t recruiting better than Kelly I would submit this:

this Notre Dame class remains well ahead of the five previous classes in terms of percentage of four-star prospects. While nearly 90 percent of this class are four-stars, the 2022 (.772), 2021 (.583), 2020 (.470), 2019 (.727) and 2018 (.583) classes did not come close to the four-star talent signed by the Irish in the 2023 class. Additionally, a big reason the 2022 class stayed intact can be directly connected to Freeman being named HC.

Also, Notre Dame signed 20 four-star prospects, including a dozen (.600) ranked compositely among the nation’s top 200 prospects. Only Alabama and Georgia signed as many four-star prospects.

If we are ever going to make it back to the to we have to learn how to master the portal.

I realize that the portal and NIL has turned college football upside down. We need more kids like this one. I’m glad he’s Irish.

Sounding like Sam Hartman is going to be the top target of Rees and Freeman for a transfer QB.

That's assuming that he doesn't go to the NFL. Seems like he's likely to go into the Portal after their bowl and will visit schools early January, hopefully ND will be his first stop.
