Reported to be a heart attack and based on this article it seems to be catastrophic. Mike Leach suffers heart attack, situation dire for Mississippi State coach
A former business associate and close friend was a roommate of his at BYU. I say that only to emphasize why I've followed his career. It's tragic. I hope everyone reads the article Scott posted.
From the article on ESPN it looks like the Navy AD fired the coach in the lockeroom right after the game. Couldn't wait another minute! Yikes that was cold, maybe only exceeded by Pat Haden the USC AD firing Lane Kiffin on the tarmac after losing to Arizona State.
This kid is going to be in huge demand on the Portal circuit. I don't know if the Irish will be after him but they should, the competition though is bound to be hot and heavy with NIL action which doesn't favor ND. Ohio State, Alabama, and Georgia all are losing starting QB's this year. Now they have all also recruited very well and likely have some highly ranked kids waiting their turn. I do wonder though if he little bit that Alabama saw of Jalen Milroe has left them wondering if he's the guy, also if they were to bring in McCall what would Ty Simpson do, hit the portal or stay and compete. He was the #3 player in his recruiting class.
With the NLI early signing period approaching I wonder if we'll see more than a few players opt to wait until Feb to sign to make sure they know who they are going to be coached by and to firm up a better NIL deal.
Purdue hired the Illinois DCoord, Ryan Walters. I'm a bit surprised as I was sure they would go for some one with an Offensive background. Walters is the 3rd black coach hired so far in this round. He's also very young and will be one of the youngest HC in Div 1.
Hope abounds with Ohio State fans: From a local bulletin board FOSML: Friends of Ohio State Mailing List, which has been around for years. The Peach Bowl has added 2K standing room only "seats" to Mercedes-Benz Stadium due to extreme demand. Commish says OSU-UGA will outdraw when the Super Bowl was held there. Also said OSU sold out its allotment of tickets in 2 days, which he says is a Peach Bowl record.
I'd say this is bad news for the Buckeyes but Henderson has been limited all season. Buckeyes have been sort of snake bit at RB this year.
One of several disappointments this year. A freshman running back has picked up the slack, but I cannot remember his name at the moment has bee a pleasant surprise. Myland Williams should be ready to go!
